Captain George's Fish & Chips
As a newbe to Captain George's Fish House, I was pleasantly pleased. The restaurant was clean, bright, tables were spaced as required.The staff were friendly, both the kitchen and server always had a smile. The server was knowledgeable when ask about the difference in fish on their menu. It was noted that the menu listed items not found at other locations.My meal was delivered to my table hot. Portions are large, and prices reasonable.I will definitely return to this Whitby location.

Very good place to eat! We ordered 2 pcs. Haddock and Chips, which we shared ( lots of chips)! Good, attentive and courteous service. There's complete condiments for our dish. Our first time here so we forgot to take photos. Will add when we go back. Check it out!

Captain George's Fish & Chips
First time having fish and chips from Captain George's. It did not disappoint. I ordered through Skip the Dishes. My order was passed around to 3 different drivers and I didn't get my food for almost an hour. Definitely NOT Captain George's fault. The only reason I am including this info is because when I finally got my order and was unpacking it I found this note pictured below. Customer service like this is hard to find these days. They didn't have any part in why my food was so late yet they did something nice to make up for it. AND even though the food was not really hot because of how long it took to get to me, it was the best fish and chips I've had in a long time. Will definitely be eating here again. Although, I think I will eat in the restaurant so I can experience the customer service IRL. And the portions were huge! I ordered a family meal and it fed us for multiple meals. I 100% recommend Captain George's fish and chips.

The best family run Fish ‘n Chips in Durham! Recently held a small family surprise 75th birthday dinner for my dad because it’s his favourite treat!! They allowed me to come in prior to put up balloons and decorate the table. It made my dad’s birthday special, and the food and service was phenomenal, as always! Thanks guys! Special shout out to Crystal, (my dad’s favourite server around)

Service was fast for takeout, hence 1 starHaddock tasted horrible, extremely oily (whole takeout box was dripping in oil) and the smell was very strong. Batter is very thick and from inside, it was raw...I could taste the mixture of powder and water.The fries tasted stale, were soggy, most of them had black marks, the ones that become old (and I am not talking about their skin)The gravy also felt watered down.Overall, wasted $40 as we had to throw out the food. Not going there ever again.

Extremely clean, floors, seats and tables. Usually two people working, their service is fast and friendly. The food is always hot and the Halibut and fries are great. Lots of parking out front or along the side.

I rarely ever leave a negative review but.......I ordered through Skip The Dishes and was very disappointed. I thought I was ordering Fish and Chips but instead received 2 pieces of overcooked and tough Halibut. I fed them to my dogs, they were inedible. The poutine was good as was the Greek salad. For almost $40 I expected a lot more.

First off, the pancakes are large, fluffy and plentiful. The kids breakfast came with three! Unfortunately, thats where the honeymoon ended. Poached eggs were overcooked. I get they're not easy to make, but if you're going to ask how i want them, make them right. But the worst offender was the 'cheese omelette'. The menu says cheddar cheese, but it was both covered and filled with processed cheese slices. Personally, i think this should be illegal. If you are covering my food in plastic, you should be obligated to tell me before i order. But i digress. Order the pancakes!
