Edokko Nigiri Sushi
Came for the unagi hitsumabushi gozen. A small was plenty of food!Aside from the BBQ eel on rice with condiments, the set came with pickles, an eel side dish, some sashimi, and chawan mushi (very silky smooth).I appreciated the instruction card about ways to eat the BBQ eel on rice: on its own, with wasabi, or with wasabi, green onion, nori, and broth (my fave).The service was attentive. I had made reservations for 5 pm on a Sunday evening and the restaurant got busy pretty quickly, Maybe families with young children enjoy the earlier dinnertimes as the restaurant is very family friendly (and festive if you enjoy the cacophany of the sounds of young children).

TL;DR:Had Hitsumabushi (a delicacy of Nagoya, Japan) and small hot sake. Price is reasonable for an bbq eel platter. If you want to try something different that isn’t served it you typical Japanese restaurant in Vancouver, this place is for you.Tonight I was missing Japan. We came back from vacation almost a month ago and needed som comfort food. Unagi or eel is a comfort from the Edo Period of Japan.So, I had Hitsumabushi (BBQ eel on rice) and had the option to get a large size. The difference between the small and the large is rice portion. Small is the bowl is filled up half way and the large is filled all the way up to the top.The platter came with seasonal sashimi, pickled vegetables and an eel custard. The main star of the show, the bbq unagi did not disappoint when eaten by itself, with wasabi, green onions and soup broth.The sashimi was good but it was there as an refresher. The eel custard was amazing as well.It made me go back to Nagoya and is on par with it when we went there. Will come back again and is a must try if you haven’t had a dish like this in your life.

Owner originally opened Ichiro (sold to new owners) In Steveston, then Takeya in Seafair, and now Edokko in Terra Nova.Quality ingredients, professional Japanese chefs, excellent service, this place will give Ichiro a run for their money.

From the exterior and the ambience, it felt like a ordinary japanese/sushi restaurant. However, the sashimi was really fresh! And lunch sets were worth its price. I will definitely come again

Since Covid, Takeya has now become a take-out only place. Edokku is their sit-down spot. There’s quite a bit of overlap in terms of menu choices. To be completely honest, the food was really good, but nothing amazing. I think I would rather get takeout from Takeya.SASHIMI GOZEN $35.95Assorted sashimi, assorted tempura, kobachi, Shawn sushi, rice, miso soup, pickles. The sashimi was good, but how they cut it, presented it, wasn’t amazing compared to other places. Tempura was good, but other places are better such as Gami Sushi.7/10UNAGI HITSUMABUSHI SET LARGE $30.95Unagi don, clear soup, pickles, seaweed, green onion, wasabi. This was pretty good! Not the best one I’ve had, but still good! It comes with a bunch of other things to eat a traditional Unagi set, but to be honest, I only care about the Unagi, sauce, and rice lol. So for $31 for this rice bowl is a bit on the expensive side.8/10

Came here during dinner time thinking there’s the set (nigiri set, etc) but unfortunately the choices are super limited compare to lunch.Ordered this Tempura Udon for $15.95 and it had One piece of tempura, I even had to double check with the server to see if they mistaken, nope, it was not.The food and service was good, it’s just a bit over priced. Average $40-$50 per person and we didn’t order anything super fancy, just rolls and the salmon sashimi.

「you get what you pay for」holds true here. It's pricey but it's worth it. One of the nicest restaurant experiences I've had in the Richmond. Their sashimi was fresh. Sushi had the right amount of rice.Customer service was excellent and has a beautiful smile.

Great place in Terra Nova area. Came here cause the place I wanted to go to had a long line up. Different type of food. Decided to come here and luckily we were able to get the last open table.Staff here are super friendly and welcoming.They don’t have any of the more mainstream fancy rolls but they have a good selection of the classics and great sashimi choices.Their lunch menu/ lunch boxes was plenty to chose from with decent prices.

Had an amazing lunch here with friends.Delicious food and friendly staff!Sushi and sashimi here is really good for the price you pay!!! Quantity and quality was very good.Can’t wait to return.
