Hot Box Huts Ice Fishing
Awesome place to go ice fishing. They took care of everything which is perfect for a novice such as myself. Took us to and from the hut, supplied rods/bait etc. Even helped me out by supplying a magnet when I dropped my phone down the hole (I got it back). However, I found their communication back and forth to be lacking. Emails were fuzzy as they couldn't see the chain and when they did reply they would ignore some questions of mine. Pretty minor though, will definitely be going back.

Hot Box Huts Ice Fishing
I booked with Donny and Gail the first year they operated Hot Box Huts. I was impressed with their work ethic, their people-first approach and I wanted to support their small, grassroots business.Besides, I really liked their dog. He's an excellent ambassador. :)Then, my wife and I had a baby and I stopped ice fishing.This winter, I booked a hut for me and my daughter, now 3 and a half years old.And despite not having spoken to him in FOUR YEARS, Donny remembered me by name, remembered my dog, and hooked me up with a couple of killer lures and taught me a few very useful techniques. Most importantly, he made me look like a boss in front of my little girl and helped spark her interest in fishing. She talks a lot about going hole fishing" again soon.As a small business owner myself

Hot Box Huts Ice Fishing
I must say, l was impressed to how easy it was to pre book our ice fishing experience. I was glad we chose Hot Box Huts, lake Simcoe. The owner operators and staff were very friendly. Our hut was sealed and at best heated by propane. We had benched seating, and 8 pre drilled holes. We actually caught 2 fish within the first 1/2 hr. Everything went very smooth, considering that we had the coldest day out of the year. Happy fishing everyone, 2 thumbs up to Hot Box Huts.

I was here in February with my father in law and his brothers. My dad and I had a wonderful time. The owners were so hospitable and friendly. I would highly recommend this location for ice fishing. Now I’ll give fair warning, we had a cottage close by so it was very easy to get there and park.

Had an awesome 3 day 2 night stay with Hot Box Huts for second time now. You guys are the best and i will be back next year for sure. Great accomaadations and huts. Great staff to look after you all day long. Thanks Gail and the others for a great memory. Stay safe on the hard water.

Hot Box Huts Ice Fishing
We went to Gail’s Hot Box Huts as a family of 4 with two young kids aged 3 and 6.We have never fished before and we so are not a winter family, but with Covid shutting down all our winter plans we were on the hunt to try new stuff with the kids.We are SO HAPPY we did! We caught (and released) 6 fish! Gail and staff are so helpful. They drove us to our warm huts, provided bait and rods! Martin and Gail even showed us how to use the rods and how to bait the minnows. We didn’t have to worry about a thing. Fishing made super simple for people who know absolutely nothing about it.Thank you SO MUCH for such an incredible first time, memory making fun experience.Now, I can honestly say I’m looking forward to next winter to come again, hopefully the kids will last longer! ☺️

Will update more once we go out in February but I gotta say already their communication getting you booked and answering questions is on point! I've heard so much great things can't wait to get it there with my family. *Update* we got out. It's very breezey coming in under the hut with no banks around the bottom of the hut. Had a couple tiny perch come by the camera in the am and then nothing for hours somewhat disappointed as I could have had the same experience in my pop up. Still great service so I won't change the rating

1 full week on the ice at Hot Box Huts.. an amazing trip with zero complains and definitely a new yearly tradition for us. This guys are the real deal and very professional. There's always someone around checking on us and making sure our stay is the best it can be..everyone who works at hot box huts was extremely pleasant and very friendly. I absolutely recommend everyone try it out even if you are experienced and have gear. I was able to bring some gear for scouting around the area no problemDonny Crowder even hung out with me for a bit and gave me some very helpful pointers on how to get into some perch ( pics for proof lol)Definitely go check them out 10/10

Hot Box Huts Ice Fishing
First experience: I had really high hopes going into this that it would be a great experience based on the reviews I read. I booked on January 31, 2022 for February 20, 2022. We were assigned the Elf Hut which was unreasonably small in my opinion (probably 6' long x 4' wide x 6' high). We could barely stand/move around in it and we're not huge adults (150 lb / 5'11) The hut didn't have any windows so we couldn't monitor the tip up outside. The hut was heated with a camping stove with propane. We couldn't fish comfortably with a rod longer than 25. Of the 50+ huts in the village

Hot Box Huts Ice Fishing
This is a summertime review.Being from out of town, Gail and Donny arranged a great summertime cottage stay for us. The cottage was clean, beautiful and cozy with every comfort we'd need. They showed us around the lake and beaches, and we all had a wonderful time paddleboarding, boating, tubing and swimming.We will definitely be back, and are looking forward to trying icefishing for the 1st time come winter.
