Whitemud Hill
You don't need to go to southern Alberta or Drumheller to experience the badlands. Whitemud Hill, in the MacTaggart Sanctuary is a badlands area in southwest Edmonton. In stark contrast to the green spruce and aspen trees that surround it, one can find this desert-like micro-climate. It's essentially an isolated pocket of badlands complete with rocks, clay barrens and even prickly pear cacti. Who knew you could find this surprising and starkly beautiful spot in Edmonton?
