Cant thank you enough for giving my pockets her vision back. Shes doing amazing and is full of life again. 4 months of her being blind broke my heart. We are both very grateful. The staff was and is friendly and understanding. Great job guys and gals. Much love from both pockets and I , Troy Ashton...

We can't say enough great things about Dr. Whelan and all of his staff! They have treated my dog, Myron so well after he became blind due to cataracts (as a result of diabetes). He had double cataract surgery, and has had no issues. Everything was explained to us, and they are all very attentive.I'm hearing impaired and have trouble hearing on the phones, and they even come out to speak to me at my car. Thank you all for the amazing care you've given Myron. I'm so happy he can see again!

Dr Whelan and his team are outstanding. My very senior Yorkie is 6 months post cataract surgery and his vision is now normal from a baseline of being completely blind pre surgery. Our Yorkie went blind secondary to cataracts over a short period of time. He was not coping well and became withdrawn and scared even to walk around the house. I saw a different Veterinary Ophthalmologist in Toronto who was very discouraging regarding the outcomes. Furthermore, they wanted to keep our little guy from the night before surgery to two nights following the procedure. It just felt very unnecessary and counterproductive for a senior dog. As a surgeon myself I got the sense that the Toronto Ophthalmologist was not confident performing cataract surgeries. After making the trip to Waterloo to see Dr Whelan I was very content. He was reassuring regarding his clinic's ability to administer anesthesia and set realistic expectations regarding the cataract surgery outcomes. We discussed the details of his preop testing results and some choices regarding the specifics of the procedure. I can tell by Dr Whelan's choice's that he is a thoughtful clinician/surgeon who makes solid choices. Surgery went well and my little guy went home the same day a couple of hours post procedure. We are now six months following the surgery and my Yorkie's vision is completely normal. It was a life altering decision for our dog and family. As a human trained microsurgeon, I cannot more highly recommend a veterinary ophthalmologist. He is a nice mant, his staff are great, he sets realistic expectations, has good follow up and most of all he can operate and makes solid clinical choices. Thanks again Dr Whelan and team!Roberto

I had such a great experience here. The staff were all friendly and great with my dog. Dr Whelan took the time to explain everything to me and went the extra mile to tell me where the closest Tim’s was, knowing I had a long, 2 hour drive home.

I have nothing but amazing things to say about Dr. Whelan and his team. They were so attentive and explained my dogs medical condition in language that made sense to me. The technicians are so friendly and caring and even though I couldn't be in the office with my dog for the appointment (due to COVID), I was sure he was in amazing hands!

Very poor communication. Was told different things from all the counter staff. When confronted about all the different things I was told, they said Dr. Whalen would call me to hear me out. That call never happened after numerous attempts to reach him. Dr. Whalen doesn’t seem to actually care about animals. He just wants your money. He’ll lie, change stories and hold your animals vital medication over your head to force you to give him money. Super disappointed with the lack of care my dog received and lack of respect I received from everyone at this clinic.

The staff were very friendly and thorough with after care. My foster pup just had eye surgery and it was a success. He is healing well. They had strict covid protocols to keep everyone safe.

An amazing experience. Staff and Dr were friendly, and accommodating. Most important they were excellent with our dog who had eye issues that were very concerning to us. We came away very pleased with their advice and will return if needed in a heartbeat. Long way to travel for us but very worthwhile! Thank you to a great team!
