Kurotaki Chabann

We ordered snacks to enjoy at David Lam park which is a quick 5 min walk away. Portions were generous and the food was hot and well presented. Service was also very friendly! As for the flavours...Chicken nuggets: Just okay... there was an unusual flavour we think maybe from the oil they use. Nuggets were slightly crispy but not as crispy as we'd like.Tofu: These were bad. Soggy and no crisp at all. Same problem as the chicken nuggets there was a strange flavour from the frying oil. We ended up throwing these out.Venting the takeout containers would go a long way to keep fried items crispy (most restaurants use paper containers OR cut a corner off the plastic container). I also think the establishment should check the quality of the oil used for frying.

It’s a hidden gem in the neighbourhood. The bubble teas are amazing and freshly made. The service is fast and the staff are so kind.Liked the cozy vibe of the place.We tried few items from their happy hour menu. The fried mushrooms was our favourite item.

I really really liked the vibe here! They have very comfortable seating and the decoration is modern and fun. For some reason I thought it was a counter-service place, but there is table service. It’s super casual though. Very nice staff! I got there around 1:30 on a Sunday and was surprised to find the place almost empty, but it meant I got a huge couch to myself.The food menu mainly focuses on Taiwanese-style fried food. Lots of chicken, lots of beef, some seafood, very limited vegetarian. I decided to try the “Vege and Grilled Cheese Burger”. I was not really sure what this would entail but it was significantly cheaper than the salmon burger ($6 vs $12) I was considering so I decided to take the chance. The reason it was so cheap became clear once it was brought out and I saw that it was literally a cheeseburger without the patty. Just cheese, lettuce, tomato, and pickles with sauce on a bun. Mostly lettuce. Based on what was there, I could imagine that an actual burger from them would be delicious if you had that craving, but this was a sad excuse for a vegetarian sandwich.For drinks, there’s wide variety of bubble tea, and they also have a basic selection of beer, wine, and spirits. I had a much more successful experience with the drink. I got the seasonal Sakura Yogurt drink. The floral flavour was strong but natural and the yogurt gave it some nice tang so it wasn’t too sweet. It came with crystal jelly, but I didn’t realize this when I ordered so I also added red bean, which actually also went really well with the sakura flavour. The layering with a juice layer with topping, a yogurt layer, a slush, and then whipped cream and pretzels on top was pretty and fun to drink. This was about $8, which was really worth it for the complexity and size of the drink. I got the medium size (the smaller of two options) and it was still pretty big!I would definitely recommend the drinks and I would give the food another try and just try something different.

I wish there was some info about the ingredients of their veggie burger on the menu as it is quite an unusual one. It consists of buns, lettuce, very small amount of grind cheese. I would recommend having a salad instead of a veggie burger there.

I really enjoyed by time at this business. The interior and art, entertainment were all very personal and handpicked. It was nicely stimulating while the seats were comfortable!The food was amazing, big portions. Chef was super friendly and employees were also very friendly :)

While it didn't blow my socks off, I'd say it's solidly average. But hey, sometimes average is exactly what you're looking for. Plus, the few times I've been there it wasn't too busy, which made for a relaxing and enjoyable dining experience.I highly recommend checking out Kurotaki Chabann for yourself. Grab some side dishes and a little soju and let the good times roll. Trust me, you won't regret it!

Kurotaki is my favourite Taiwanese bubble tea spot in downtown! There’s nothing like this out there especially not in downtown!In short: good quality food/drinks, awesome ambience and spacious, and good prices.I’ve been here over 5 times and I keep bringing people back. Came here out of curiosity and came out quite satisfied. Is it the best food? No; but it's above average.Overall, the highlights were the calamari with fries being the winner hands down. The salad was a generic salad but the cherry tomatoes prevented it from being unnecessary. The burger was good but it broke apart easily making it a bit difficult to eat. The chicken chop with cheese was the worst of the items. It was bland and uninspired. The cheese didn't do anything and the chicken itself was bland.The decor was good. They were playing Mr. Bean on a big screen which was a weird but welcomed choice.Will we come back here? Possibly but it won't be the first choice.

Cool joint. Comfy chairs/ couches. Well spaced out. Food and drinks were pretty good but I especially just like the room. It’s nice having a bubble tea and casual food joint in this area. Will definitely be back.
