Sooooooooo expensive. God help the person who knocks over their 2000$ lamp looking for it in the dark. Not to my taste, but a good store that fulfills a need. My experience says the buisness is probably better for its side services. Replacement crystals for chandeliers, lamp repair, lamp shades, etc.

A rare diamond of a shop not often found these days. La Contessa offers a large selection of quality and vintage lamps, lamp repair, and custom made shades made with old world skill to your requirements. Over the years I have had lamps repaired here and value the experience and excellent service. The shop owner takes her time with her customers to provide service way beyond that offered in most of today's stores - allow time for quality service - don't arrive at closing time!! NDG is privileged to have this store in our community; there are so few specialty stores of this high caliber left.

Boutique La Contessa on Sherbrooke is the most horrible customer service I have EVER experienced. The owner is beyond rude. I waited patiently for close to 30 minutes while she was serving customers who were picking lamp shades while not acknowledging me one second. She finally asked someone in the backroom to help me out (I only needed a part) which he thoughtfully did and after a couple of minutes she suddenly cut in, said I was taking too long and the store was closed. I have never been so horribly served in my entire life.

A lovely store to browse, and a great resource if you need a lamp repaired or a shade made from scratch. I always enjoy talking with the owner, and have never brought her a problem she couldn't solve. I found that repair work was always done well, and in keeping with the style and purview of the lamp. True, the cost of a purchase or work done is not inexpensive. (If you want cheap, you can always buy a lamp from Ikea instead.)

I brought in an old wobbly lamp in January, and they fitted a base to it, rewired it, and found the perfect lampshade to complement it. I was so happy that I brought in another one for them to do. Very nice ladies, with great taste!

Excellent place to refurbish or repair your lamps, as well as find some excellent fixtures. The service was excellent and we're incredibly helpful in helping me repair an old heirloom lantern lamp. I'll definitely be back again. Highly recommend.
