I was hoping to find some locally made goods for gifts to bring home that strongly represent the West Coast. I was pleased to come across these shops as I found traditional wood carvings of a Killer Whale and Frog. I also got enamel pins and patches, things I can wear that have the distinct Haida/Coast Salish colours and designs with animal symbols that represent something to me or are an animal I adore.Yes, there is a fair amount of manufactured goods, however, the things I looked at were designed in Canada by Haida and Coast Salish peoples and made in Canada or elsewhere like most manufactured goods are in general. This was the only store I came across with these things in the short time during my visit and I am so glad I stopped in.

One of my favourite native stores. It is actually two stores in one. The owner is very well educated on native pieces and deals directly with the artists. If you can't find what you're looking for on their packed shelves they most likely can order it in for you. Great place for teaching supplies for the new curriculum on First Peoples. They have everything from pelts, to drum making kits, talking sticks, masks, puppets, books, jewelry, art prints, and so much more. If you're passing by make sure to check it out.

So much to see. Beautiful Aboriginal Art work. I love the handmade carvings. My daughter bought a dream catcher and absolutely loves it. She wanted something that was one of a kind. We definitely will be back next time we are on the island.
