Right at Home Home Care St.Catharines and Niagara

This is a short story of the benefits that I have received from the care of PSW’s from Right at Home over time when I needed it. There have been the common twice a day care which is permanent, but there have been been times when I have needed 24 hour coverage after my wife died and I was burned out, and recently when I was discharged from hospital after pneumonia. Also, my wife’s care when I had radiotherapy daily for four weeks and she needed help. They all look after my treatment, but interact with me. They are mentioned in my stories that I write every Monday. One on friendships and I quote As usual, I forget friends who are here for me every day. The Personal Support Workers. They are here twice a day giving me support in what I can’t do now. Not only that, while they’re doing whatever, they are interacting with a person who lost his wife last year after 65 years of a great marriage. Loneliness is such a serious problem nowadays that can be devastating if not addressed. They are for here for that as well as the minor booboo’s and some more serious, and maintaining a decent quality of life for a shut in.

This place has been a terrible and demoralizing experience for my family.They have had psws and home support workers who:1) called my grandfather names when they thought no one was around2) some questionable/boarderline abusive care like making him sit with a mouthful of toothpaste for twenty minutes3) refused to do basic hygiene like washing up, toileting and left him with dirty catheters4) sat on the couch on their phones ignoring him when he yells for help5) even had one demand to use our credit card for her international flights and cosign a loan for her (despite this being a huge violation in ethical practices)6) one almost burned my house down and left him in a dangerous situation7) often sent students, one of which refused to make my grandfather a sandwich at lunch because their mother doesn’t let them touch knives.8) two would show up for a bit. Leave for a bit and come back before the end so they could still collect full hoursAnd administration:1) openly acknowledged that they sent untrained new staff who were not even onboarded or seen a care plan just to fill a spot2) didn’t give notice for no shows and often had no coverage for several shifts a week3) had such high turner in 3 months there was over twenty care providers through our home resulting in no dignity or consistency for my grandfather4) if you complained they called you difficult, became hostile and rude, and purposely would not schedule service resulting in neglect and instability for a vulnerable senior.Sure, they had a few great psws, but they never stayed long with the company so you never got a good one for very long.Thats just my personal experience.Even Bayshore as better… and that says a lot!

The care my mom recieved frtom Right at home was incredible !!! I can not say enough about the psw's that took caere of my mom Greg Stewaart was a care giver for 1 1/2 yrs always on time great help to my brother and myself, we had an emergency Greg did everything he could to get in touch with me the day of the emergency he gave me the phone number of right at home and I called we needed a care giver at the house pronto and Trish from right ar home had someone at my moms house within an 1 hour !!! we needed 24/7 care for my mom and Trish worked diligently on a schedule 1!! the service was top notch the workers all werre great and extremely caring I felt safe leaving my mom in the care of Greg/ Bernice / Arnie / Gemma great staff I can not say enough about how great this company is they go above and beyond the call of duty !!!! if you ever need home care for a loved one this is the place call . Trish did an excellent job scheduling the psw I'm sure it wasn't easy with such short notice . I highly recommend this company there the best !!!!

Our family experience with Right at Home was 5 stars! The support team was easy to communicate with knowing that Trish was always a phone call away. Our concerns were always met with a pleasant attitude as we needed to cancel or add a shift to my father's care. The PSW team is fully certified and helped my dad with personal hygiene, visitation and really understood his dementia behaviour and needs. I would recommend this service fully!

Right at Home has been an excellent company to handle PSW care for my mother. She has had respectful, kind and efficient care while it was needed before transitioning into retirement living. We would recommend Righ at home for all your care needs. The office staff is a always quick to respond and so accommodating. I used Right at Home for about six months prior to my husband being placed into a LTC home. The people they send to help are wonderful, kind and caring people. I was fortunate to have had Bernice who is an absolute angel, and my husband adored her. I also had Greg who took my husband on walks in the summer, which was very kind. Dealing with the entire company is a comfortable experience. Even the scheduler bent over backwards to accommodate my ever changing needs. Changing a visit, or scheduling additional ones were never a problem. I heartily recommend this company to anyone who needs a caregiver.

I cannot thank Right At Home enough for the service they provided to my family. Each personal support worker they sent to help take care of my mother was a considerate, kind, caring, professional who treated my Mother with respect and dignity. Everyone we were in contact with from the Care Coordinators to the Personal Support Workers were excellent. They were so helpful and it was such a comfort to my family to have this level of support while my mother was waiting to transition to Long Term Care. We cannot thank them enough for all they did!

Right at home caregivers have been terrific. They pay attention to my mom and really sees who she is. They are quick to see if something needs doing as far as clean up or making her breakfast the way she likes it, after only being shown once.They are kind, supportive, and extremely capable!

Right at Home has been very helpful in helping me care for my wife Carol who has vascular dementia among other medical issues. PSWs have been good and have related to Carol well which is key. I am very satisfied with the service.
