Phil's passion for music and guitar comes across in his teaching. In addition to being wonderful musician, he is engaging and patient. It shows not only in his teaching but in the enthusiasm and excitement that is seen in his students. Phil goes above and beyond with his song choices (consistently asking for favourites and musical preferences), the challenges he gives - while still being level appropriate and interesting, as well as making the lessons fun. I cannot recommend Phil and Calgary's Best Guitar Lessons enough, and am so excited to see how he continues to feed the growing love of guitar in my daughter!

I highly recommend Phill as a knowledgeable and competent guitar teacher.Phill makes my lessons both fun and practical. He focuses on my goals, but also expands my knowledge of theory and technique.Phill is easy-going and professional, and genuinely cares about his students.

Phill is hands down THE best music instructor. This is the 3rd instrument I am learning. My 8 and 10 year old children are also taking lessons from Phill as well. He always asks what songs we want to learn, tailors the lessons for our diverse music experience and is always very punctual and organized. His ability to write tab by ear is incredible. After 1.5 years of lessons, my 8 year old daughter was able to confidently play Metallica on the electric guitar for her grade 3 class. They are always excited to see Phill (and add to his growing collection of origami). Phill teaches both from his home and deep South. We have never had any issues booking convenient timeslots for our semesters. Very professional, knowledgable and always friendly.

Phill is a great teacher! He pays attention to the goals of his students and does whatever he can to bring them closer to those goals. He is attentive and knowledgeable. He will improve your technique, knowledge of theory and increase your motivation to practice. He is truly inspiring!

Phill is one of the best Guitar players and teachers that I have ever seen! He is very talented, skilful, and experienced. He can write different songs from all over the world even from different languages! He is also very kind and patient. His classes are very fun and enjoyable. We definitely recommend him to all Guitar lovers.

Phill is an awesome instructor and a ton of fun to work with. I have tried learning guitar several times on my own but this is the first time I’ve really seen myself really making progress. This is a review for my 13 year old son who has taken guitar lessons with Phil for 2 years. Phil is an excellent guitar teacher. Joey has had other guitar teachers and found Phil was really good at providing ways for Joey to be able to actually play interesting music right away. Phil has amazing knowledge of possible music options and really got Joey playing recognizable music quickly. This was really motivating for Joey and he got into his lessons much more than his previous experiences. That being said, he still taught the basics and incorporated this into songs that Joey wanted to experiment with. Phil has a sincere passion for teaching guitar and obviously cares a great deal about his students progress. We would recommend his lessons to anyone we know.

Phill is a very skilled and patient teacher and can adjust his techniques for any age and skill level. He’s accommodating around his availability and responds to texts and emails quickly. He will always ask about music styles and preference and will direct lessons towards the students interest. We couldn’t be happier having Phill as our instructor.

Phill has been teaching our son guitar for a few years. Phill has been very patient with working within his abilities, and going out of his way to find music that our son likes, like to draw out the tab by hand for him at his level, which keeps his interest. I have also taken some lessons from Phill and he blends theory, practice and finding pieces at the right level to build up on every level.

Phill's musicianship is what you would expect from a music teacher, very knowledgeable! And good communication skills too. Phil is helping me take my musicianship to next level.Thank you Phill.
