Mama Afro Beauty Supply Downtown

I’ve gone to this store quite a few times and only once has the customer service been good. They do have a good selection of beauty supply products BUT they are greatly overpriced. Not only that but they advertise and sell items that are not what they say. There are so many “human hair” wigs on display for such high prices but they are all synthetic. When I went to this store the last time, I had to ask to see real human hair wigs even though all the others were labeled as such! Then, all the 4 wigs they had were extremely high in price and it wasn’t even worth it, the density is falsely advertised and the hair shed like crazy. Will not be returning to this store.

This store has really good products but their customer service is so terrible. When you walk into the store, the lady doesn’t even acknowledge your presence and she somehow seems bothered if you ask her questions. I’ve been here so many times and the service is always terrible. Unfortunately there aren’t a lot of stores with African hair products.

Poor customer service the lady she sit in shop when you inter look like unhappy and mad when you ask a product .

Good selection of products. Wigs merchandised very high up hard to see. Service could be improved. Friendliness goes a long way.

I’ve bought 4 wigs from this store in the past. Today, I came in from work to buy another wig.The owner says “pick 3 wigs and try them on”. I tried on 3 wigs and the colours did not match my skin tone. I went on to try 4 other wigs.The owner comes up to me and says “this is the last wig you are trying. You have to buy after this!”Clearly, this woman does not understand customer service! The fact that she wanted me to make a decision after 3 wigs, which were all different cuts, textures, styles, and colours, is completely ridiculous!I walked out and I’m never shopping here again.Horrible woman! I would not recommend anyone to shop here. Go to Diva or the wig store in WEM. The Asian owners are way better than this woman mama Afro!

This store is shady. I recently purchased a cream from the 118 Ave location. I went home, opened it and the colour had changed from white to brown. Today, I tried to returned it for either a refund or a new cream that is safe to use, but the man working there refused to refund me or give me a new cream. He kept insisting that it’s safe to use even though it’s clearly defective. I am beyond disappointed with this store. I am a regular here and have been buying products for years, but with terrible experience, I am definitely taking my business else where.Check the skin care products and make sure they are safe to use on your skin.

Good product but extremely rude service, I'm almost in disbelief, I am a regular customer here and every time I go they seem to get more rude. If you ask for help they make you feel like you're bothering them, and they have no idea what they have in stock. And will make you pay full price for a display. After being a regular here for almost 2 years I will not be going back. I suffer from hair loss and wear wigs to protect my natural hair and they make me feel almost as if I should be ashamed, I'm extremely disappointed they would treat someone who spends $200.00 on product every month this way.

Could improve on the variety of hair pieces. I find it weird that an African hair store doesn't have yaki ponytails.I don't find that the staff arent very knowledgable on their skin care products. When I ask for their opinion I get, yes it's good" on every single thing.I find their prices very fair so I really appreciate that.I will continue to support this black owned business

Great local business, catering to African and Caribbean Canadians primarily, but was delighted with my silk lined sleep cap. The attendant was extremely pleasant and helpful.

I had a great experience. The shop was clean, and the woman that attended to me gave me a warm welcome, she wasn't struggling to help me find what I went to buy. That was my first time, and the warm welcome that I received from her, gave me a good impression to visit there whenever possible.
