I recently visited the Consulate to renew my French passport and ID, and had a really good experience. The receptionist, Rose, was really friendly! The gentleman who assisted with the renewal was also really nice and helpful. The only complaint would be that it was really hard to get an online appointment due to limited slots, but that’s to be expected with the demand.

Disappointed to say the least but not surprised, French administration at its finest, even overseas. As a French citizen who moved to Toronto, I have tried to get help from them couple times. It never seemed like they want to help, always cutting people off, not even trying to understand the matter of the call, extremely rude!Seems like they have better to do than their job, which I thought was to help fellow French people.

Very efficient and nice staff. I visited on August 11 to renew my passport and national ID and the lady who helped was fast, efficient and competent. The receptionist was pleasant and overall it was a good experience compared to what I was used in France.It's nice to see good public services being delivered and I urge the French government to stop cutting public services while giving millions to Mckinsey!

I must say that I am deeply disappointed by the service of this consulate. Being a french citizen living in Canada, I've experienced the worst service. It's been nearly 2 months that I've been trying to renew a passport. Not a single opening and impossible to talk to an agent or a representative. I've emailed several times explaining the urgency and never received a response.I never experience such service in any consulate around the world. In Toronto, we used to have no issue making an appointment and now, it's as if they purposely refuse you entry. What are my options to renew a passport? This is insane!!!

I am not sure why this consulate does not do visa applications. They state 30 day processing times on their website and send all visas to Montreal. It has been several months and there is still no visa or update. There are hundreds of other people complaining about the thousands of money they lost to hotels, flights and work contracts. The LEAST they can do is to advocate to update the website to reflect real processing times. PLEASE send more people to your Montreal Visa Centre. We are suffering…Edit: This has nothing to do with VFS because my visa has been with the consulate since day 2. It’s the consulate’s job to ensure there is enough employees and to update their website. Your official website states 30 processing days, this wouldn’t be a problem if it wasn’t mandatory to apply for a visa with accommodations, flight and insurance. People are losing thousands of dollars for this mistake.

I wouldn’t give them even one star if I could. Think twice before you go to this consulate and if you don’t have any choice, get ready mentally for the poor quality service which is inconsistent and very slow.There is poor communication (email or phone).I got a chance to have an appointment with them. I tried to explain my situation, one of the agents didn’t give me a chance to explain myself. She just cut me off. They incriminate you, infantilize you in a very condescending tone.I had a very bad experience with them and I definitely don’t want to deal with this staff again.The French government needs to give them the opportunity to take some interpersonal classes.But, if you know someone who works there, make sure you keep this person in your pocket.It looks like this is the way it works even for their own citizens. What a poor representation of France in Canada.The arrogance of its staff is only equal to their incompetency and rudeness. Mrs Dalila Sidali's poor work ethic (no response to emails, has no clue about time of meetings, ignorant comments with xenophobic touch, loss of documents, menace and intimidation...) was a pain in my application. I'll be reaching out to the French Embassy in Montreal hoping to be in touch with competent government employees.One last suggestion, we are in the 21st century, it's time to think of switching to digitalized service that'll help avoid unnecessary wait time, avoiding to take time off from work and poor overall experience.I lived in France for +20 years and a couple of visits at the consulate of France in Toronto made me even more thankful/grateful to be living in Canada!

My first visit to French Embassy Toronto in September of 2021 was a pleasant experience. Everybody who work there at the time was friendly and accommodating, especially Ms. Dalila S. My then boyfriend, now my husband and I were confused about requirements to get married/report our intent to marry to France, and Ms. D. S. was excellent in explaining everything we needed to know. Even when we moved to Edmonton, we still chose to go to French Embassy Toronto to request our family book (April 2022) as this embassy is always very welcoming. Ms. D.S. was again amazing in assisting us. Totally different from the unfriendly consuls at French Embassy Tokyo.Merci beaucoup, French Embassy Toronto!

I have been trying to contact them for weeks to renew my passport and no response from them. This is very frustrating.
