Went in for the black pudding, also got some lamb’s liver and the best scotch egg I’ve had in Canada. I saw the plate of them by the register and got one on a whim - they were still cooling! A little different seasoning than back home, but wow! Definitely worth the visit. Friendly, knowledgeable service, too.

Their products are just great. One suggestion I do have: please, place the ingredients of your fabulous soups on the label. Why should your customer guess what's in them? Knowledge increases confidence in buying. Thank You!

I ordered a Christmas turkey from this butcher and then several weeks later had to cancel my order a few days before I was supposed to pick it up. I was worried about how they would react but they were so polite and gracious. I really appreciated their understanding and kindness.

Went there to only have curt and rushed staff who denied giving me any beef trimmings when I spent over 100$ on a beef tenderloin. I’ve never heard of that before, and is bad form as a butcher. Slaters will have my business going forward.

I have had consistently positive experiences shopping here. I have bought the cuts of meat for steaks and soups, sausages, bacon, premade soups, sauces, and meatballs. They even made a Shepherd's Pie once. Everything has tasted awesome, been fresh and a joy to eat. I hesitate to go in just to look" because I always end up buying something. The rotation of premade meals and ingredients shifts with the interests of the chef

Whoever trained these people to be courteous and friendly, plus so knowledgable, did a great job. It is a pleasure to come in and hear the stories from your staff about your products. Just today, Brandon was telling me how humanely the local pigs are treated on the farm: heated floors, view of the sea, etc. When your staff is excited about what they sell, it really shows. Thank you all.

Good selection if they let you in. I like both their ordinary and unusual products -- organ meats on display, actual leaf lard, a good selection of butcher's cuts in the cooler for when I ask. But recently I stepped up to the door and reached out my hand when a staffer opened the door from inside and without raising his eyes he flipped the sign and wordlessly locked the door in my face. Apparently I showed up at the exact second their lunchtime began and that's the end of that! It's cool to take a lunch break (although the staff COULD stagger theirs and stay open like every other business in Canada does) but the way Village Butcher handles closing doors in customers' faces for lunch is a disaster. Slaters has my business now.

By far my favorite place to get meat. I love the village butcher because they have local meat yes. But more importantly every time I go in you can have a conversation with someone and learn new ideas or riffs on what you are doing with a cut of meat.

I have been in the store twice...both times staff were abrupt, robotic, and created an uncomfortable tension for me in spite of the fact i entered with a friendly hello .If looks could kill !...I inadvertently rested my hand on the curved showcase and the guy snapped at me coldly for doing so...Not friendly at all...felt more like an interrogation room than a butcher shop. The only thing they butchered was my desire to ever return.Sorry
