Little Champ Camp - Clarkson

The camp itself is great. Dan is very accommodating and most of the camp leaders are very kind. Unfortunately my grandson told me was that one of the leaders Alex had a vape and was vaping on the job. I find that unacceptable they need better screening process.

My 5 year old absolutely loved Little Champ Camp! The councillors were amazing and great with the kids and she came home every day happy and looking forward to returning. The outdoor swimming every day was the highlight for my daughter. This was our first camp experience and I was very impressed with the program and professional and kind staff. My daughter is looking forward to returning this year! :)

I have heard the absolute worst things about this camp from people who have put their kids in it over the last couple of years. I just wanted to share this as a concerned parent who lives in Clarkson.

Little Champ Camp in Clarkson is entirely outdoors with barely the basic consideration given to the safety and security of campers. I was duped into signing up for Little Champ Camp after being told by Camp Director, Alexis Elliot, that there would be three large circus tents for campers to shelter from the elements. I discovered this meant half a dozen BBQ canopies with no walls, which campers remained under during constant thunder and lightning storms. The storms were that bad some days that I kept my son home rather than condemn him to sit under a flimsy canopy all day.For the first two weeks, my son had to change for swimming in one of two portable toilets that were emptied only once a week. During heatwaves with high humidity and temps in the high 30s, these “porta potties” were teeming with flies and the stench of daily use from dozens of campers and camp counsellors; and left open in the evenings and weekends for the general public to use in the park.My emails to Little Champ Camp Director, Alexis Elliot, voicing my concerns and asking for better facilities were mostly dismissed or ignored. I tried to enrol my son in another camp, but there was nowhere local and available. I eventually pulled him from the camp early and lost my money after losing all faith that Alexis Elliot could or would make it any safer for kids.At $400 a week, there are plenty of indoor/outdoor camps in Clarkson for around half this price that are run much, much better. Just book early. The teenager camp counsellors do their best with what little they have; and most of them don’t get paid. This just adds to the fact that Little Champ Camp is a blatant rip-off, and was obviously run with a lot more competency in previous years, hence better reviews.

We first tried this program with my eldest son in 2020. It was so amazing that we enrolled our younger son just this past year. He went in with no experience in swimming (he's turning 5 in November) and learnt in 2 days, not exaggerating. My son was tricky otherwise with drop offs and the counsellors all handled it with such grace and expertise. Special shout out to Sofia and Brianna. What's the secret, I want to know how you guys always manage to hire the next kids/mature young adults! Would recommend to anyone. We were at the Clarkson Mississauga location.

My kids absolutely love this summer camp. Swimming everyday and the camp leaders are very friendly and enthusiastic. Definitely coming back next year!

My son has spent the past three weeks at this camp. While the counsellors did their best, there were a lot of things that made me want to share some concerns with other parents. The tents" that the kids shelter underneath from the heat are very small. They're not tents

From a mother who has a child on the autism spectrum I want to share my experience at Little Champs. The real champs are the counsellors! They were kind, patient, understanding and most importantly willing to give a little boy who can be challenging and difficult ,not by his own accord of course , the chance to have an experience that most kids and parents don’t bat an eyelash at! I will gladly and comfortably be sending my kids back !

The best summer camp we have been to in the past three years. My two sons have asked each year to come back, eager to spend their summer at little champ camp. Staff are not only great but really care about the kids. My kids have learnt so much from being here. Happy to have them in this community
