EL CHARRO DANFORTH
We went here for our last dinner out before baby girl comes, and this restaurant was highly recommended by a friend of ours. Sadly to say, we were very disappointed with our experience here. Firstly, when we arrived the young boy hosting was lovely, so kudos to him. The server arrived and I asked him questions about the menu, and he kept telling me the Birria plate didn’t have cheese on it - however it says right on the menu that it does. It quickly became clear that English was not his first language, which is fine, but he really struggled. My husband asked about the special and he didn’t know what it was. I ordered the baja shrimp tacos, and to my surprise when the tacos came, they were the fish tacos. I don’t eat fish, so I asked the server to swap them out for the shrimp tacos that I had actually ordered. He didn’t understand what I wanted, so the younger boy came over to help us out. Imagine, to my surprise, that they charged us for his mistake for the fish tacos on top of the shrimp tacos. We were very unimpressed with our experience.Not to mention, the food was overall pretty flavourless, and when I finally did get my shrimp tacos, they didn’t even have the sauce on them that the fish tacos did. Just so disappointing overall, especially when this was our last celebration as a couple before becoming a family of 3.

Went here after a comedy show. Well decorated Mexican restaurant with a bar in the middle and a large selection of food and drinks. Booths at the front and tables in the back. Service was prompt and pleasant. Had the guacamole which was freshly mixed at the table, highly recommended, not too much garlic and not too much salt. Chips were nicely salted and fresh. Also had the pescado burrito, which was big! Tasty but I personally didn't like the pickled onion. My food mate had a carne ASADA, meat was soft and well spiced. Wish i had room for dessert because I want to come back for churros. Came on a Saturday, which I didn't know is live music night. Be aware, not the best night to come for a quiet date night. Great talent tho!Restrooms are in the basement and are a little cold in the basement.Overall: Nice mexican gem in the city. Be aware of the music nights.

My friend and I were just walking down the Danforth looking for some where to eat, when El Charro caught our eye. We were seated right away, the restaurant wasn’t too busy. My friend and I ordered the guacamole and the quesabirria to share. The guacamole was not the best, it was kind of watery from the tomatoes. It was a table side guacamole, which I’m not a big fan of. The waiter left the pestle in the mortar after he was done smashing the avocado. The guacamole wasn’t that flavourful. The quesabirria was good, but the hot sauce was delicious. Overall, had an okay experience.

I've gotten take-out from their Broadview location but I've never been to this one. The atmosphere was great. It's very spacious and they have a lot of spots for bigger groups. The staff were very nice and attentive. The food was amazing, although it is a bit pricey. I would love to come back and try their drinks!

Classic tex mex spot with the standard offerings (burritos, quesadillas, etc). Got the pescado (fried fish) burrito. And while I would've wanted more fish and some guacamole in it, still found it tasty and a good portion size for the price.Place itself is vibrant and lively, great for groups, good for drinking. Can see how this is popular with families during the day and party-ers at night.

First time going to El Charro. The service can be much better here. They have a lot of staff but the service was very slow. After ordering our food it took about another hour to come out.The food we got were amazing though! They tasted amazing. The restaurant itself is very big and decorated.

Great bar and even better Mexican cuisine. The server was kind enough to give us tips with the menu and even more courteous to let us know that we may ordering too much. Had to tell him it was intentional because there was too much good food to try. Definitely a place you'll want to overeat on purpose because it's that good!

Holy guacamole this place is yummy. We have been two times now and both time made us full and happy. Everything we have had has been great. Try the extra spicy enchiladas!

EL CHARRO DANFORTH
Honestly the best Mexican restaurant I’ve tried in Toronto, it’s my second time here and I’m definitely gonna still coming back. I had the Birria tacos and they tasted better than expected! The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is great!
