Urban Harvest

Fantastic company and just amazing staff, I have been purchasing seeds from them since 2015 and all of their seeds have been of the highest quality. I have found over the years that the majority of their seeds have been disease and pest resistant compared to other companies. I have also found the germination rate of their seeds to be 99.9%. I will always be loyal to Urban Harvest.

We use the seeds from Urban Harvest to grow products for our store (Pet Grocer in Alliston). I've been purchasing from Urban Harvest for the last nine years. On our last order, they were in the middle of moving locations and had run out of part of our seed order. I was very pleased to find that they followed up with me when they had stock in again and shipped it out, along with a handwritten note wishing us happy holidays. We've always had great success with their seeds, germination is easy and with high yields, and love the heritage seeds. Highly recommend this company, great products, great integrity.

This is my favourite seed company in Toronto, and their seedlings are great too. They're super healthy and have fantastic varieties to choose from. The staff is very knowledgeable and helpful and will work to make sure your new plants get good care.

I ordered seeds online over the Easter weekend. I received a call on Tuesday to let me know that one of my seed varieties was out of stock, and that I could either wait or substitute for another variety: I chose another variety. Over the phone, I got chatting with Barb and added a few more items to my order, as it was nice to get some expertise from a human being (sigh, Covid). I received my entire package today, within the same week as when I placed my order. Everything was nicely packaged with little write ups about each variety, and the customer service I received from both Barb and Colette was attentive and personable. I am very excited to grow these little windowsill vegetables this year!

EDIT: After the response of the owners, I am changing my stars from 2 to 5. The pandemic hit everyone hard. Sometimes too hard. There is already enough grief in this world, no point in adding more. I am leaving my original review here for reference, but I am sure the shop will do everything in their power to get back to it. Stay safe, stay alive.I had heard great things about Urban Harvest and was happy to find the seeds I wanted to order in mid-April. Then Covid-19 happened, and my seeds arrived in June, which practically turned them into very late / obsolete planting options. The shop had scarce communication when it was about late orders, but they were answering to curb pickup posts on their Facebook, so it was a selective communication" on their part. Me

Good selection or organic seeds and starts for urban gardeners in the city. Plants are started in their green house space close to the city and they have a seed farm outside Peterborough. Unfortunately, they may not be able to stay in the city due to high price of rent and seasonality of their business... this is a good local enterprise, supporting biodiversity. Let's continue of give good businesses a customer base!

Amazing selection of Seeds from April till June and seedlings starting in May. All organic, heirloom and good quality and price

I get almost all of my seeds and seedlings from Urban Harvest. I appreciate that they care about biodiversity and that their products are all organic and heirloom. Staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They don't put out seedlings before it's safe to plant them in the ground, which is a small detail that makes a big difference for the inexperienced food grower. I learn more every time I go in.

Urban Harvest has a great selection of organic seeds, seedlings and soil. It’s a bit out of the way for me to get to, but I love the service, and the owner is super friendly.Also, splurge on the plant tea. Totally worth the time and effort to prepare it.
