Trailrunners K9 Training Center & Labrador Retriever Dogs & Puppies

We have a now 11 week old puppy from Trailrunners and we could not be happier with our experience! The entire process was smooth and Fran answered all of our many questions. Our girl was so well taken care of for the first 8 weeks of her life, and we are so grateful. Trailrunners was very informative; you could see how passionate they are about their dogs. Our goal was to find a Canadian Labrador breeding who would fit our very active lifestyle, and fill our home with that special puppy love, and our little Frankie is just that! We are so excited to continue to watch her grow.

Trailrunners are exceptional both in breeding and training. I have had two labs from Trailrunners. My first lab i had was an eye opener for me on how a dog should be. All my life I have had dogs and I never knew what a well bred dog was until I had a Trailrunners lab. As a single mother, I knew it would be a big challenge to have both a baby and a puppy. Honestly, I think some people thought i was crazy to get a puppy at such a time of transition in my life but I was confident in the pup I would be getting would be a pup that i would feel safe with my baby and I could handle and train. I had sent both of my labs for training with Trailrunners and the difference in Trailrunners training is next to none. The approach they use is safe and respectful. My dog is so well balanced and a dog that I can be proud of. I could not say enough positive things about Trailrunners. It is hard to leave your dog with someone for a number of days for training but I know Fran and Chris love and care for your pup and i feel 100% confident and I trust them to care for my dog the way I do. I also left the training centre feeling confident has the pack leader and was provided with tools to do so. I will always be a Trailrunners Lab owner. its like being a part of a big family!

Our family has been impressed time and time again with Fran, Chris and their staff. A few years ago we brought our pitbull cross to Trailrunners for obedience training and she came back confident and well mannered where as before she had been anxious and a bit unruly. After learning how to handle my now well trained dog, Fran shared some information about proper nutrition for dogs as she’d noticed some health issues in our dog. Our dog did indeed have chronic ear infections which had been repeatedly treated by the vet, but nobody seemed to know the cause. After following Frans advice, the ear infection cleared up and our dog hasn’t had one since!A few years later my husband and I decided to talk to Fran and Chris about getting one of their Labs for hunting purposes but also as a family member since we had 4 kids. When they time came, Fran chose the puppy to fit our needs and he doesn’t disappoint. He is a great looking dog with personality! He is gentle and obedient, fun loving and hard working which is exactly what we asked for. The obedience and gundog training and post training support at Trailrunners is incredible and we have become part of a fabulous community. I have always loved dogs, but was astounded at how much there is to know and you won’t find a better teacher than Fran!

We had heard so much positive feedback about Trailrunners that when we lost out first Labrador due to age, we reached out to them to inquire about the process to bring home a new family member, well when Fran contacted us on July 13th (what would have been our first boy’s 14th birthday) to say they had a puppy available, we took this as a sign we just could not pass. We are so happy to have joined the Trailrunners family and our new boy, Loki, has been a wonderful addition to our family.I recently brought him to work and everyone was so impressed with how well he listens and how calm he is for a puppy. Which I can only come back to say comes with the excellent breeding.

We got our first lab, Tommy from Trailrunners and could not be more grateful for their expertise, knowledge, and for providing us with a dog who meets our needs but also fits perfectly into our family. Fran did a wonderful job of matching Tommy to our family and we couldn’t be more grateful! Tommy is gentle, loyal, smart, driven, friendly, great with other dogs and people, and so much more. We are confident he will be bringing the ducks in soon enough! We will definitely get our future labs from Trailrunners. Seriously recommend Trailrunners for anyone looking for a working dog who can also chill out at home with the family! 10/10 experience!

We recently took our dog Hunter to Trailrunners, and when he first got there we realized just how little control we had over him. When we let him out of the truck Hunter wouldn’t listen to our command, he took off running to do his own thing, tugged on his leash, peed everywhere and was distracted and hyper. At the time we didn’t realize how much dominance he had over us, but all of his bad behaviours stemmed from him believing he had the power. Now that we have him back, he is the definition of a 360 degree dog. Hunter now listens to our commands, he walks without a leash and at our heel, he doesn’t get distracted, and he’s no longer a hyper and jumpy dog. He’s so gentle and loving and we knew he had potential to be better but Trailrunners performed magic and made him a dog that we didn’t know was even possible. We couldn’t be more happy and thankful for all the work they did to give us the best behaved dog we’ve always wanted. Highly recommend!! :)

We feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity for our Chocolate Labrador Bruno be welcomed to train at Trailrrunners. We reached out to Fran at Trailrunners because we were looking for a place to board and train our dog while we were planning an extended family trip. We had some obedience issues with Bruno and ongoing health issues with his skin since he was a pup. After speaking with Fran and sharing our concerns about Bruno, she welcomed him with open arms. Our hopes for him would be a safe place for him and adjustments in his behaviour. Fran and Chris at Trailrunners exceeded all of our expectations. When we reunited with Bruno after 100 days, all of his health issues were completely resolved and his level of obedience was outstanding. In addition to the obedience Bruno participated in the Gun Dog Training program. Although Bruno is a pet for our family, this has given my son and husband an opportunity to hunt with Bruno. Trailrunners is so well organized and well thought out with all of their training for both dogs and owners. Our family spent the last weekend at the end of Brunos training with Fran, her husband Chris and their staff. It was an amazing weekend of learning and working with them and our dog. They have accommodations for guests when you come to train with their dogs which was also cozy and comfy. We enjoyed meals and laughs with them in their home. This experience was truly amazing for not just our dog but our family. We have a healthy, obedient, pet and gun dog. Thank you for all that you have done for our family.

I can only think that our little dog Lucky (schnauzer/poodle) was very stressed before training, trying to run our whole household, destroying his toys, barking at the window and door, wanting to play all the time, ringing his bells to go out ten times a day. We interpreted it as high energy, but now he is changed, relaxed, quiet and content in his place at home while still enjoying his off leash runs (with reliable recall now). He heels beautifully on walks in town with zero tension on the leash. Our relationship has been transformed and our house is peaceful. Fran gave us an incredible amount of information on our training day and changed our perspective, equipping us to be good leaders. If you want to learn, she can teach you, and she and her team can certainly train your dog. We feel privileged to have had Lucky trained at Trailrunners and are very pleased with the results.

I have known the Trailrunners owners since 2008 and have owned 2 Labrador Retrievers bred by them. The Trailrunners hunting lines are remarkable, breeding great hunting dogs with amazing drive and bird hunting ability. The well balanced dogs are awesome with the family, while at work, and on vacation. I bring my dog with me most places I go, in the vehicle, under my desk at work, to the woods, and in my hunting blind without any issues. They can be left for hours (provided they are exercised and well cared for) and I don’t need to worry about their behaviour. They have an on/off switch that is remarkable to observe. One minute they are happily laying on their place mat and the next minute they are charging hard on an offleash walk getting birdy. I receive compliments often and I am proud to have a Trailrunners dog. Fran has always been there for me providing training advice while I have had her dogs. No matter how busy she has been with the Training Center and new puppies she always has time to provide great advice and experience to draw upon for hunting training and general obedience. The health and well being of her dogs is always most important and it is obvious. I have visited the Training Center where her dogs are very well cared for and receive world class training. The puppies grow up in a good environment and it provides an easy transition to house training. She even provides a great raw food which I am a big proponent of. Overall, I feel very lucky to have owned two Trailrunners dogs.
