Positive Shift Health and Fitness
Tim has been my trainer for over a year, and he has done wonders for my strength and endurance. It is a longer drive for me, but I have followed him to his new location in Burnaby, because personal trainers are a dime-a-dozen, but I truly believe that Tim is unique. He is positive, encouraging, and he really takes the time to go the extra mile. Sometimes literally :) There aren't many trainers out there like him. The new facility is beautiful. It's really clean, has new equipment and overall is a gorgeous space. Good parking options too.I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Tim to anyone, in fact, my husband, sister, and brother-in-law are alll now clients of Tim's too!

Positive Shift Health and Fitness
Highly recommend Positive Shift and specifically Ryan Murphy. I originally went to Ryan for recovery from an injury but have stayed for continued fitness support. Ryan is great at meeting you where you at and creating realistic training's that you will look forward to doing. For example I really love Yoga and Pilates workouts and Ryan was able to give to me the tools and practices that I can use within yoga classes but also outside either for a home workout or in a gym, none of the training has felt out of reach. Overall I feel stronger, more confident and motivated to keep improving and getting stronger. Can't recommend Positive Shift and Ryan enough!

Positive Shift Health and Fitness
I started working with Ryan half a year ago, and I've already noticed many improvements. When I started out, I had really low stamina and energy but now I gained endurance and is able to keep up with the rest of the group! Ryan is knowledgeable and is always there to answer your questions. The group work out classes have been one of my highlights of my week! He makes the class super enjoyable while constantly motivating you to keep going and challenge yourself. I find it helpful how he will remind me about my postures during each exercises. I would definitely recommend Ryan to anyone!

I've come a long way since starting training with Tim purely for the Tough Mudder. Tim's constant encouragement and focus on helping me improve physically in the areas where I am weakest has brought me to the best shape I've been in since high school. In addition, Tim has always gone above and beyond in providing support: providing a training plan for my hotel when travelling, inviting clients on outdoor activities, and checking in with how I train when I'm not at the gym. I highly recommend Tim to anyone looking to make training and physical improvements.

Working with Tim, at Positive Shift, has been an awesome experience. I started working with Tim as I wanted to work with a kinesiologist who had more skill and knowledge of back injuries than a typical gym trainer. When I first decided to work with a trainer I was a little nervous an intimidated about the idea, but Tim’s approach was genuine, encouraging and motivating. He helped me fight the psychological as well as physical battle. The name Positive Shift says it all, it's not just about hitting the gym" (although you will definitely sweat and use muscles you didn’t know you had)

Formally a gym rat I didn't really see the need for a personal trainer but decided to try out a few sessions with Tim to see if he could help me with my squat pattern, anyway.Not only have I seen more progression in the last two weeks than I had in over 6 months on my own but the intrinsic benefits include Tim's super positive, earnest and friendly personality and his skill as a kinesiologist which allows me to trust completely in the process knowing the exercises are safe and that he will, and does, cue me to correct my technique so the proper muscles are being exercises and motor control is being strengthened.If you're going to be spending an hour with someone doing something that makes you want to swear I recommend spending the time with Tim as he's a good listener and in his gentle way won't let you get away with slacking off, either :)Best decision I ever made.

My physiotherapist recommended that I start personal training sessions with Tim over a year ago, and I haven't looked back since! I had mentioned to my physiotherapist that I wanted to supplement my exercise routine with a workout where someone could watch my form, correct it as needed and help me build back my strength after having injured my back. Tim has done this and more - I always feel much stronger and healthier after his sessions! He pushes me to work out harder than I would on my own which is why his sessions are invaluable to me.Although I can no longer go his weekday sessions because it is too far in traffic, I will gladly continue to drive to his brand new and amazing facility from Kits every Saturday to continue my workouts!I would easily recommend Tim to my friends and family - he is inspiring, encouraging, and takes the time to get to know you and your needs! I have been training twice a week with Tim at Positive Shift for almost 1 year now. I started training with Tim because of an old injury that was limiting me from doing everyday activities. I remember in the first few sessions how weak I was but Tim was great at adapting exercises and taking small steps to rebuilding the strength in my body. Almost one year later and not only have I lost almost 20lbs but I am the fittest I have ever been in my entire life! No joke. I see muscles in places I didn't even know that I had muscles. I will continue to train with Tim because he keeps me focused and pushes me to work out harder than I would if I was doing it on my own. He is a very kind, caring and compassionate person and he cares a lot about his clients. It also helps that he has a kinesiology degree and understands the body and how it should move normally, which makes a big difference when you are building strength and have an injury. I would 100% recommend Tim and Positive Shift to anyone looking for a trainer who keeps you focused on your goals, is a good listener, and is just an all around awesome guy! Thank you Tim for helping me get my strength back! I can't wait to see where I am one year from now.

Tim chose his studio name wisely, and so aptly. Positive shift is most certainly what you leave with after you visit. Working out with Tim has been eye opening, and mentally invigorating. He is a wealth of information, and experience, but has an almost moral principle to refrain from pressuring you. This was the key difference I took away from Tim and Positive Shift - other than great workouts - the honesty, realism, and sincere encouragement. There's nothing romantic about working out, but Tim understands that it is a vital and important path to being the best of who you are, so he offers his finest expertise and advice, but leaves you room to take it. Make no mistake Tim is the real deal!He has been my personal trainer (coach and mentor) for nearly two years since first walking into his gym back in 2014.At the time, I was looking to complete the Tough Mudder for the first time but I had a shoulder injury that was impacting my confidence, health, and fitness goals.Tim knew exactly how to deal with my injuries and different sensitives. His circuit training was a combination of high resistance and low-impact training movements and exercises. This allowed me to focus on achieving my goals and rebuilding my confidence.
