Norbert is an excellent teacher! We took lessons from him for our wedding. Because my husband and I were long distance, we had practically no time to actually attend lessons. I was up in the Barrie area visiting for a period of two weeks and we figured it was our only time to try and learn anything. I reached out to Norbert with the details and the song we wanted to dance to. Within a few hours, he had responded with a detailed plan. We were impressed at the professionalism so we booked our lesson.Over four hours, we had a ton of fun and learned how to waltz and spin and so forth. Norbert even made space in his schedule for us to come back for another session while I was still in town. Norbert filmed our last practice so that we would remember the steps and could keep practicing on our own.Our family and friends were delighted with the result and the two of us had a great time. Norbert has an eye for detail that really pays off.If you're looking for an enjoyable way to learn dancing (even starting from zero!), I can't recommend Norbert highly enough. Where do I even start? Norbert has succeeded my expectations and plus some! I went through some tough life changes earlier this year. I have been making a lot of changes in my life and something I have always wanted to do was start dance lessons. The only moves I really can perfect is the sprinkler and shopping cart move. Now you can understand where I was starting at lol! I was extremely nervous to start the lessons but Norbert made me feel SO comfortable from the moment I met him. It’s now been 4 months since started bachata dance lessons. Dancing has added in so so much happiness into my life and that’s thanks to Norbert. On month 2 of lessons, I felt comfortable enough to attend my first social dance event in Toronto to test out all my moves. I definitely didn’t pull out the sprinkler move this time. Norbert teaches you how to prepare for the real dance world. Norbert is really unique in the way he teaches. He doesn’t teach “routines” like those big studios. At the beginning of each lesson, we go over previous dance moves, then we add in some new moves and then we practice said moves for the rest of the lesson. He prepared me for the unexpected which is a necessity with bachata. I will also add in that he teaches in a way that YOU will understand. He pays attention to your personality, your skills, the way your mind works and teaches you accordingly to this. This is what makes him an AMAZING instructor.If you are thinking about signing up for dance lessons with Norbert, DO IT! You will not regret it. Push past your nervous and jump into the dance world. Norbert creates a fun learning environment. As first time dancers, my husband and I have been pleasantly surprised by the dance ability we didn't know we had! My husband has always been nervous to dance in public, but with Norbert's fun and relaxed learning style - my husband found the confidence to try it. He couldn't believe that other people actually clapped for us! We both agreed to continue the lessons. :)

There isn’t much to say, other than having one of the most wonderful teacher/student experiences I’ve had in my lifetime while learning the basics of bachata at this dance studio. Norbert is one of hell of a teacher; he is patient, inspiring, and persistent. There wasn’t a lesson where I didn’t feel confident in my learning. By the end of our lessons, (though me and my wife will be coming back) I can confidently say I can dance bachata, and though we have much more to learn, we are eager and ready for more.Norbert, thank you for the great chats, the laughs, and of course the dancing, you feel like a kindred spirit and you are certainly one of a kind.Do I recommend Smooth Latin Grooves? My husband and I put our trust in Norbert’s ability to create a beautifully choreographed dance for our special day, along with teaching us both (whom of which had absolutely no experience) all the dance steps we needed to look like professional dancers. I remember the first time I saw couples dance bachata. I was a young teenage girl on vacation with my family in Dominican Republic. It was a beautiful warm night with bachata music playing and couples dancing together. I remember how beautiful and romantic I found it, thinking to myself how I hope one day I will find someone in my life who would dance bachata like that with me.Fast forward to today, I now have a husband who loves to dance just as much as I do. We really wanted to find something that we both enjoy and could do together. That is how we came across Smooth Latin Grooves. My partner and I signed up for 4 private bachata lessons and we were so impressed by what an amazing teacher Norbert is. He is so warm, welcoming and kind. He starts off with the basics and moves at the perfect pace depending on how quick you learn. He is extremely detailed oriented and does a great job at demonstrating each dance move. My husband and I went into these lessons as total beginners and after 4 lessons we have gained so much confidence and have a great repertoire of dance moves that we enjoy doing. We will definitely be continuing with more lessons and we are even interested in learning salsa as well in the near future.Recently my husband and I went to Cuba where they played bachata music on the beach. Naturally we got up in excitement and danced bachata under the warm Cuban sun with our bare feet in the sand by the ocean. We were completely present in the moment in pure bliss. I realized shortly after, that the dream I once had when I was a young teen girl back in Dominican finally came true and I hope that someone on the beach saw us that day and also felt inspired to learn bachata.Norbert I have you to thank for this. My wife and I found our first dance lesson with Norbert to be very informative and fun! We always enjoyed dancing but really wanted to learn how to dance properly. We decided to try Salsa out and after an hour Norbert had us already doing 3 different types of moves. He was extremely patient, very friendly and welcoming and extremely knowledgeable on the topic of dancing (and life in general too!). The location is convenient for us and we also really like that he is very flexible (with timing and cancellations) and affordable with his rates. We will definitely be going back to learn some more!
