Old Yale Brewing: Abbotsford Craft Brewery + Kitchen

Unfortunately we had a very disappointing first experience. We were seated and didn't see a server for a half hour. When we asked for waters they were forgotten. It took another half hour to get our bill and a box. We were there for a total of 2 and a half hours most of which was waiting for service, and made us miss our time slot for boardwalk.Unfortunately the Buffalo chicken pizza was so heavily loaded with toppings and the crust so thin that it was not able to be eaten. There was so much time between getting the food and having our server check in that the other guests at our table were finished while our friend waited to get help regarding his pizza. When the server came back she insisted he try something else even though we were ready to leave she said please let us make this up to you so he ordered something different. He was charged for his second item which I can understand but he was trying to say no to ordering more food and just just leaving but the server was insistent on fixing our bad experience and made it sound like it would be comped due to him not having a meal.The other food and drinks we ordered were good but due to the service and the disappointment of the experience we won't be coming back until we hear things have gotten better regarding staff and better communication.It is also very loud in there so be prepared, we all had headaches afterwards.

We have tired to reserve our sits over phone at least 1 day ahead. But restaurant mentioned they don’t take reservations, it’s walk-in and place is big so we could find place easily.But when we were there in last Sunday…we have to wait almost 30mins for 8 members. Servers came after 6/7mins later.Food was pretty good and decent. The service was pretty good. The restaurant is so new I'm sure it was just working out to fix everything.

2.5 stars. They have a large selection of beers....and exactly one cider. Most of the beers available are not on the menu and are written along one wall that I never even noticed until the waitress pointed it out.Campers burger 15$, side Ceasar salad 3.50$, and 12oz blueberry blond beer 5$ - happy hour prices.Honestly....straight average across the board. Burger got soggy incredibly quick on the bottom bun. Tasted good though with a thick burger patty. Salad was good.Then I found out that removing my side of fries for lettuce, croutons, and some store bought Ceasar dressing costs an additional 3.50$ which is probably written on one of the 5 different menus you have to shift through, but I unfortunately missed that fine print. Took an average meal down another point.Atmosphere and the building is really nice, though despite being nearly empty it is still shockingly loud in there.Definitely not worth a second visit.

Great interior space, we enjoyed the atmosphere very much. Was disappointed that 2 of the 4 beers that I wanted to try in a flight were not available. The 4 I ended up with were not enjoyable. It's rare that a flight is 0/4 for me. The food was good, baked potato pizza bringing the best reviews from our table.

Overall I would give our experience at this new location a 3.5/5.First main disappointment was that the website says to see what they have on tap at this location, yet all the ones I chose were not actually on tap. It was too confusing for me to hear what they had from the server so I opted for a sleeve of the first thing I heard that sounded decent. The drink itself was pretty good.Second disappointment was that we had come at a bit of an awkward time. Not really the establishment’s fault I suppose. It was about 15 minutes before their standard menu and I wanted the brunch but my husband wanted something from the main menu. The server let us know that she couldn’t place the order for another 5 minutes so we said okay, we’ll wait. She came back and let us know she could put it through but we wouldn’t get the order for another 20-30 min. He opted for brunch instead.Food was decent. We both got the early riser poutine. I would get it again.Our server was kind and did check on us often. None of our disappointment in our experience has anything to do with her level of service.I think we will try the chilliwack location next time to see if there are more drink options.

We went Friday evening for dinner, and the place was super busy, so there was a bit of a wait getting in. Despite how busy they were, we still had excellent service from all of the staff, especially our server. Compliments to the chef and bartender as well. The food and drinks were great and timely despite being dinner service on a Friday night.

We went for brunch and the bread on the sliders was so hard, stale and dry none of us could eat it! We had to scrape off the insides and just eat that. The inside of the brunch sliders was really good if you scraped off of the buns. All three who had the sliders didn’t eat the buns.Absolutely loved the loaded tots! They were a hit with everyone!!It is a beautiful restaurant tho and the games inside were fun. I enjoyed the beer mimosa and the people I was with really enjoyed their beer.I wish the food matched the amazing vibe of the restaurant.

Though I'm unable to drink the beer, the cocktail I ordered was delicious. They have limited gluten- free choices, but there are choices.The warm potato salad was better than I expected. Definitely the highlight of the plate. I love brussel sprouts, the other side dish with my meal, but these were disappointing as they were barely cooked.The steak was somewhat seasoned, but nothing exceptional, and though I ordered rare, they cooked it closer to a medium-rare instead.Service was good.

Opening night was an absolute blast! We played games while we waited for our table. We tried all the craft beers in 2 flights. Our server Jessica was simply the best! Her positivity and fun, easy going personality made the night so much greater. The Mozzarella Burger was a solid 9/10 and the Fried Chicken burger was an 8.6/10 which perfectly accompanied the apple slaw. The salted lime Mexican lager is an absolute must try. Overall, the night truly flew by. We came in hungry, we left so so so happy! Thank you OYB!
