Budokan Karate
In the Budokan dojo you will find that every class is taught in the traditional Meibukan Gojyu-Ryu style of okinawan karate. An important part of this tradition is that every class is open to all levels. You will always find students of the different kyu levels training together. On top of it all, you will see that Sensei Ken continues to train with his students. Sensei Ken knowlegde and abilites in the Meibukan Gojyu-Ryu stlye is exceptional. Everyting he teaches comes from his training when in Okinawa.

I have trained with Kyoshi Trebilcock through various seminars in the past. Southwestern Ontario is lucky to have an instructor of this quality in and amongst us. If you want to learn traditional Karate I highly recommend this dojo.

I have trained with a few martial arts clubs over the past 11 years and Budokan Karate Dojo is the first club that I have found where I feel confident that I am learning a Martial Art in it's purest form.Sensei Ken Trebilcock is an extremely knowledgable Sensei. He is a student of Okinowan Master Meitatsu Yagi, and of the late Di Sensei Meitoku Yagi - who was a student of the great Master Chojun Miyagi - founder of the well known Gojyu-Ryu style of Karate. This may sound like a bunch of meaningless names until you consider that Sensei Ken is only 4 lines of separation from the original creator of our style of Martial Art.At Budokan we learn advanced Gojyu-Ryu Karate under the Meibukan system. It is not a watered down or mixed North Americanized version of karate. It is Okinowan Karate in it's purest form. The classes incorporate all the important aspects of traditional Karate - focus, balance, self discipline, spirit, respect, purpose, and of course, fitness.Budokan Karate Dojo isn't flashy, it's students aren't egotistical or competitive (as you might find at other clubs) and membership is reasonably priced. Most importantly, it is as real as it gets when it comes to learning traditional Okinowan Gojyu-Ryu Karate.I feel that I have gained more knowledge and skill as a martial artist during my 1st year with Sensei Ken than I have in all of my other years of training.I would most highly recommend Budokan Karate Dojo to anyone - young or old, male of female who has a desire to learn Martial Arts in the way it was mean to be taught.

Budokan Karate
Before joining the Budokan dojo I had done a lot of research about what was offered in the Brantford area. I soon decided to begin my training there because it seemed like they offered more traditional karate training. The price was also far more reasonable then other dojos. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Sensei Ken is a fantastic teacher along with Sempei Dave. They take the time to know all the students by name and welcome them into the karate family, teaching every class and giving individual attention and care to each student. I have always felt very comfortable and welcomed there and would highly recommend it to anyone seeking to learn the individual art of karate.
