love this shop and have had lovely experience with all staff except a young woman who works here.. when i came in the door was closed so i wasn’t sure if they were still open since i didn’t know if they close at 5 or 6, so i asked if they were still open and she had a lot of attitude telling me yes- then was blatantly on her phone watching videos or something (volume was up) the whole time i was in there. when two other customers came in she didn’t even acknowledge them. not a great experience with this employee

Love this place so much! So enjoy the time inside and lots of vintages around, the staff helped a lot and so experienced on the things he sold, looking forward to back again

A real joy of a shop to explore. Despite its small size, I spent a good 20 minutes looking around Step Back and can't wait to visit again. The owner is not only immensely chatty and welcoming, but is also clearly very knowledgeable about what he sells. The regularly-updated Instagram also makes it very easy to keep track of new stock.

Such a cool store if you’re looking for some beautiful vintage pieces ranging from suitcases to toys, books etc. Some new items as well like postcards and paper. The owner is lovely and always happy to help and describe items in the store. They’re always collecting so there’s something new to see every visit.

A truly amazing place, filled with such unique finds, like old furniture, postcards, maps and posters. I bought a beautiful map of India. The owner is a true pleasure to talk to and while there there were a lot of people who knew him from before which shows a really nice community.

We were offered incredible customer service. We came in to purchase a typewriter, and the owner walked us through every pertinent aspect of maintenance, functionality, and a bit of a history lesson too! He even found us a PDF copy of the user's manual and emailed it to us to make the learning process easier. By far my favourite antique store, will be returning soon.

Flash from the past and always interesting items to consider. Globes, typewriters, cards, so many surprises. Lots of new items rotating in. If you like vintage items this is a good place to go to. Owner and staff members are very friendly and nice to chat about items. Great finds.

This place was such a gem to find! If you’re a lover of antiques, oddities and authentic objects than you’ll love this shop. It has a well worn warm vibe, full of gems in every corner and the customer experience was great! The owner and his son helped my friend and I with any questions we had with warm smiles and genuin interest, we felt very welcome and immediately fell in love with the place. Will be coming back soon!

An absolute gem in the heart of busy Broadway! Lots of fascinating things to look through, and the owner is lovely. Recently picked up a super cool 1950s BC department of mining map that I’m going to frame - I come from several generations of geologists so this was a very neat find. An amazing place to discover treasures and pieces of history that you weren’t expecting to have such a unique connection to.

Step Back
I passed by the store when it was still closed and fell in love with the thonet chairs inside. I reached out to the store via IG and the owner was able to hold those chairs for me! The store itself is filled with treasure as well! I would definitely go back!
