Tara Hill Studios

Myself and my now husband got engaged in February 2019 and decided we wanted to have our wedding in June 2019, therefore we knew it would be hard to find a photographer in time. Luckily, my sister suggested her friend from College, Tara Hill. I reached out to Tara and she was super excited to do our wedding and was amazing to work with as she was flexible and organized to get everything ready in a short amount of time. I had no clue what I wanted with my wedding photos, but Tara was great at asking questions (she did a questionnaire and Facetime chats) to find out what we were looking for. Having Tara as the photographer and a guest at the wedding was a pleasure. As some people know it can be awkward and tiresome at times as it can become such a long day with so many photos being taken, but it was the complete opposite with Tara. She was easy going to work with and it was very natural as the photos did not feel forced. We had a small intimate wedding with close family and friends, there were 20 people at the ceremony and 40 people at the dinner, Tara fit right in with our small group. Tara has an eye for impromptu moments, we were headed back into town from our ceremony that was on top of a cliff overlooking the Valley, when she told us to stop because she had an idea. We got out of the truck and she captured the most beautiful photo on the middle of the highway with the mountains in the background, it was definitely a highlight of the day. My husband loves golfing, and we were fortunate to be able to sneak on to the course to take some photos. It didn’t even feel like we were taking photos, it was so fun and laid back. She also surprised us with some very meaningful photos, Tara had asked us about our family history and how we grew up. Both my husband and myself come from a logging background and our fathers still work in the logging industry. Tara was walking around the yard of my childhood home and came across my dad’s chainsaw, she asked him if she could use it for some photos. She used the chainsaw and our wedding rings to capture some absolutely beautiful photos. As I did not know about it at the time, it was extra special to see as a memory of our wedding day when we received our photos. I could keep going on about how great of a photographer Tara is, but I will leave it at that you will not be disappointed to have her for any of your photography needs!

Tara was our photographer for our wedding this past August (2022) and all I can say is do not hesitate, book her right now for your wedding/event/family photos!! First of all, Tara is truly the loveliest human, when it comes to your wedding photographer, you spend so much time with them on your day it is so important it is someone you click with! We loved spending time with Tara on our day and were sad when it was time for her to go! She is so much fun, so easy to talk to, and very organized/prepared.Tara was so great from the moment we hired her - she supported with our timeline in our planning process, and on the day was so efficient and decisive with our shot list. She was able to get all of the shots we wanted without making the time drag on. She was able to manage the large groups of people, while being flexible and fun the whole way. Even when we were a bit behind on our timeline, she never made us feel rushed/stressed and prioritized the photos we wanted, while still keeping us on schedule. The way she prompts made all of our photos look so natural and not posed, which is exactly what we wanted. She was able to capture the fun and love on our special day without making everything look staged.When we received our photos, we were absolutely floored with how much we loved them! We knew we would have many favourite’s, however we literally loved everyone. I can’t explain how well she captured our day in such a fun and natural way. She got our photos to us ahead of schedule and while we were on our honeymoon which was so special. We cannot wait for another opportunity to work with Tara again!I absolutely promise if you work with Tara it will be the best decision you make!!

I have done many shoots with Tara Hill over the years and she never ceases to absolutely blow me away. Tara makes you feel so calm and confident in front of the camera and really has a way of getting people out of their shells. She goes above in beyond in all capacities and delivers the most incredible photos. I would recommend Tara Hill Studios to anyone and everyone!

I would give more stars if I could. Tara did both our engagement and wedding photos She hiked up a mountain, 7 MONTHS PREGNANT for our engagement photos. She rolled with the punches for our wedding photos, fitting right in with our wedding party. She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera. Our wedding photos are amazing and I can’t wait to obsess over them for years to come. For my second marriage I would totally hire Tara again.

We hired Tara for our wedding in September 2022. There are so many great things to say about our experience with Tara. From the planning process to the day of our wedding she was professional, enthusiastic, had great communication, and was very easy to work with. Planning a wedding can often feel overwhelming, but Tara was there throughout the planning process with several zoom meetings helping to make the day go smoothly. At times, she felt like more than just a photographer, as she helped us plan a lot of our wedding timeline and order of events to ensure we got all the photos we wanted. She provided us with a Wedding Guide and sample timelines which were very helpful in the initial stages of the planning process. She went above and beyond to attend our wedding rehearsal to plan out spots for photos and helped guide us through our rehearsal run through.A couple things that stood out to us was that she not only managed to take amazing photos on our wedding day but she did it while being 8 months pregnant! If that doesn’t show commitment, I don’t know what does. It did not slow her down at all and she still scrambled up the mountain with us to get the perfect shot.Tara, thank you for everything you did for us. We had Tara shoot our wedding in Fernie this past summer and words cannot even describe how amazing she is! She shot us in multiple different locations in addition to our wedding venue including Silver Springs, Fernie Alpine Resort, and on top of the Three Sisters (WHILE PREGNANT!) Her PDF Wedding Guide is such a helpful document and she made us so comfortable during our shoots when we had never taken photos together before. All of our guests commented on how professional and lovely she is and the photos turned out stunning! I highly recommend you seal her as your wedding photographer!!

I cannot begin to express what an incredible experience we had with Tara Hill Studios for our wedding! Tara is an incredibly talented photographer, an organizational wizard and the photographer you need to hire for your wedding day!Our wedding planning ended up spanning two years, three dates, two venues and two provinces (thanks COVID) and Tara was accommodating, optimistic and worked with us to make sure our day was perfect every step of the way! She provided her Wedding Guide which was *chefs kiss* - AMAZING! Ask her about the Table Game - we did it at our wedding and our guests raved about how much fun it was to kick off the reception! Ask her about sample timelines for the day, she has that covered too - with all kinds of different scenarios! Tara is like a defacto wedding planner and we found her guidance and brilliant ideas really helped shape our day to accommodate everything we wanted to do!With Tara, you are getting a someone who is hands on, who wants to be involved in your day and who is going to dance the night away with you once photos are done! Tara is such a likeable person and we are so glad we can call her our friend! We recently got our photos back and we cannot stop looking at them! We laugh, we cry, and we smile - we felt completely comfortable with Tara and you can see it in the photos! Her photos captured the natural interactions we had with each other and Tara was down to take any kind of photos we wanted!One of my favorite moments was during the engagement shoot (which I HIGHLY recommend) - we wanted to build a fire and take pictures cozied around it. Of course Tara was on board, brought a shovel to dig a pit into the snow and fire building supplies! We had a near disaster when the fire went out, but through some of that endless optimism and some good fanning of the flames, we got the fire back and those pictures are amazing!If you are thinking about Tara as your photographer, DO IT! You will thank yourself for putting your wedding in the hands of an outrageously talented photographer!

We hired Tara originally for our 2021 wedding. Due to Covid, we pushed for 2022. Tara was INCREDIBLE during the entire process. She held our hands and walked us through every adjustment that we needed to make in 'unprecedented times'. Tara was kind, compassionate, and extremely patient during our chaotic wedding day and the planning days leading up to. She provided us with a STUNNING gallery of our wedding day and made sure to check in with us during the editing process. Her wedding work is streamlined, thorough, and professional. She ensures her clients feel heard, cared for, and appreciated. We will certainly use Tara again in the future.

If you are thinking about hiring Tara, all I can say is go for it! Don’t hesitate!And if you’re not thinking about it you should!!!!We just had a Grad photo session with her and we not only very much enjoyed the session, but are SUPER HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS!Tara was friendly and kind, always smiling and she just seemed like an incredibly happy, and carefree person.She was more than willing to accommodate our requests, and had so many great ideas of her own. She never made us feel rushed, it was like we could have all the time in the world if we needed it. My daughter is a little shy around newbies, but she warmed up to Tara quickly and was happy with her session and so excited to see the results...and the results OMG!!!! We are in love with these photos!! I even went so far as to message Tara and ask if it would be weird for her to be our photographer for life!! Lol, she wasn’t even creeped out by it.I guess I just wanted to put it out there, that if you were hire Tara, YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!!

Tara is truly amazing and so very talented!! She shot our wedding and we couldn't have asked for better! She is very prompt at replying, even with our first contact, included in her email was a personalized video to us introducing herself. What an awesome personal touch!
