There is little thought or caring behind the comments that this is “destroying” Canada’s healthcare system.Over the last 15 years, I have spent literally over $20,000 on “private healthcare” in the form of physiotherapy, massage therapy, acupuncture, osteopaths, custom knee braces and counselling services. These are all completely legal forms of private healthcare in BC. And no one seems to complain about this. In fact they (rightfully) celebrate how I value and invest in my health so much.The BC Healthcare system asserts that my knee should be “good enough” and will not provide me with a new one. But good enough for who? I spend 4 hours a day just trying to keep myself mobile and am unable to do the activities I want.That’s fine if they don’t want to provide me with one through the public system, but it is oppressive to deny me the ability (and choice) to invest in my life and health and myself.I do not make a lot of money. I do not choose to drive a fancy car or take fancy vacations. I drive an old used vehicle and prefer to cycle tour as a holiday. I don’t begrudge those who choose to spend their money on new $60,000 vehicles or fly to sunny beaches. Nor should people feel they have the right to inhibit my choice to spend my money on my health. In fact, it should be celebrated.And the “knee jerk” responses here about “private healthcare” destroying the fabric of our society is ridiculous. As mentioned, I have already spent $20k on private healthcare and everyone in this province has used and benefited from “private” healthcare. Do you really think our healthcare system would be better off if you could only go to a massage therapist, physiotherapist or acupuncturist if the government said you could and then arranged it?Allow people to keep investing in their own health. It will not detract from your life and it will add to theirs. And they are the ones who get to decide their priorities and values in life, not you.Just like I don't decide what car you drive or what holiday you take, these choices are not about you.

I’m an Canadian Olympic Athlete 2008/2012Dr. Day operated on me in 2004.He and his team got me back representing our country faster than the 6 months I would have had to wait in our system at the time. The fact that I had that option in our country was a blessing and I am so thankful that I did not need to fly to another country to get fixed in a timely manner.I just did my other knee and can’t wait for our medical system. I wish I could use Dr. Day again but unfortunately the government has taken that option away. I wish my money can go into the Canadian economy instead of the US system. I hope we don’t keep loosing our best doctors to the US.Brian is a genius and we should celebrate his success and all that he has done for our medical system by pushing the limits and technology.It’s a shame to read the reviews of angry people who don’t seem to fully understand the importance of health care options and how the health systems around the world operate.I for one will do everything I can, to work with this incredible doctor again.I’m thankful to have a medical system here in Canada and proud to call this place home.Thank you Dr. Day and your team for providing an above and beyond service!Warmly,Zachary Ilia Plavsic

Don't use the Cambie surgery centre, specialist clinic, they're corrupt. I had the worse experience in 2008 with an orthopedic surgeon Dr. Younger.
