Cambridge Shelter Corporation - The Bridges

If you need food, shelter, or assistance in Cambridge, this is the spot. Meals are professionally cooked with top grade ingredients. People in Cambridge seem to be afraid of this place yet it's probably the friendliest and safest place in town.

Bridges is a great place, without this place and the staff that work there there would be much greater problems, for a shelter I will say it deserves much more from the public, bridges really do there best when people look to them for help, considering every walk of life who visits this place brings new things some good and some not so good to the downtown area, but for the most part, with what the place is given for help and or donations they really do make a world of a difference, considering what the staff are faced with on a daily basis.

The staff really do care about the people staying there. Its a difficult environment with so many broken people...but they do the best they can.

Staff is pretty kool but some not okay

This is the place to be if you're experiencing homelessness.I was treated very nicely by the staff there. Staff, like Rob, Wayne, Ben, Alison and several others, were amazing. The residents didn't bother me and they were good to me and gave me space. They were keen to know and remember my name. Food served there was excellent.Staff took care of my needs, quickly.If you follow the rules of the shelter, you'll be respected and treated fairly. Being homeless and needing assistance is not a fun place to be and staff do their best to alleviate the situation and improve the quality of life.

It's a safe place to go to if you are truly experiencing domestic violence. You find refuge, gain confidence, get lots of support from staffs and social workers. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is experiencing serious troumatic problem

Without the Cambridge Shelter Corporation I’d probably be dead. With that being said, it’s not a 5 star hotel but the service and assistance they provide the community to the people that need help the most is by far the best in the Waterloo region. Not to mention the situation and problems they deal with on a daily basis, the workers here have a high level of tolerance. Thank you for all you do for us! Cambridge Shelter does important work in our community. They look after the people in our community who are most vulnerable and provide them an opportunity to get back on their feet.It is impressive to hear about the number of people they've supported in their overnight shelters, in their transitional homes, as well as in the search and advocacy for permanent housing. The staff truly care about the people in the shelter and want to see them succeed.Of course we wish the numbers weren't so high, but that's a reflection of the bigger social issues that aren't being addressed effectively.As a community, we need to recognize that Cambridge Shelter plays a big role in the solution for homelessness in the Waterloo Region.

In a severe shelter bind, as last resort I'd stay here. But I'd exhaust all other options first. Food an portion size is good. But if you lose your bed, an dont check in everyday till bed is avaavailable. Whatever belongings you had in your locker or on top of your bed gets thrown out.

The shelter has always had it's issues with the clients and community. I've been going and using that shelter since 2006, I've seen the shelter at it's worst and I've seen the shelter at it's best. I don't agree with how it's been running lately and I sure don't appreciate the negative comments from the community, if you have never had to live that type of lifestyle or live in that environment, maybe you should go a month living like that before you run your mouths about the shelter or the people that live there.
