Laura and her team are the most amazing people I have ever met! When I found Laura and K9CI I had been looking for a service dog group for six months. I knew my daughter would benefit from a service dog and Laura did not disappoint! I do not know how Laura does it, but every working team fits each other perfectly! My daughter is strong willed and sassy. Laura found her a dog with just enough will and sass to challenge and balance her! When we go to training it is like going home. Thank you Laura and team!

As a former client, I can't, in good conscience, recommend training with K9CI or their affiliates as they lack consistency, integrity, and accountability. I have witnessed unethical behaviours on the part of the owner and current staff - favouritism, bullying, lack of confidentiality, and questionable treatment of dogs. These behaviours should not be allowed by an organization whose purpose is to assist vulnerable communities. In my opinion, K9CI is not an organization that encourages a healthy, inclusive, supportive learning environment.

Harmful and toxic organization. Discriminatory practices against people with disabilities and mental health conditions, even within their own staff. They hurt people, dogs, and themselves with their actions. I was once a die hard supporter, and I was so very wrong. Private health information is not confidential. So many people have been hurt, and have been quiet out of fear or intimidation. If you don't know what sanctuary trauma is, you will if you choose this organization.

I have been a part of this program since the summer of 2017. It has been a pleasure to grow as a service dog handler with the trainers and other clients at K9CI. So much has happened in my life in the last 5 years and the trainers and staff always help to the best of their abilities. My favourite part of this organization is that the training plan we create together is adaptable and personal to each client. So while things may change in your life, the support from K9CI always remains! My service dog and I have now gone on so many adventures together including 24 flights, visited three different countries, and had so many experiences(for ex Cedar Point) that would be daunting with a dog but less so with the help of our trainers!

As a former client, stay far, far away. This organization is constantly involved in issues, wether it be the maltreatment of their own employees, maltreatment of dogs, being sued, questionable training practices and much, much more. Reputable breeders have stopped supplying K9ci with puppies because they are not responsible and take advantage of situations. They have shut off their Facebook reviews to try to stop this information from spreading. They claim to be a non-profit organization, but everything in this program revolves around money. As a fellow disabled person who was taken advantage of by this program. please don’t fall into their manipulative, cult like organization.

I came in contact with K9 Country Inn in the spring of 2018; Tilley was 8 months old at that time. They offered a two year training program and I was put into the gold program which guaranteed all the bells and whistles. Since that time Tilley and I have been through about 5 locations and 5 trainers. Two years into the program I suffered a major health problem which made it impossible for me to drive to training for nearly six months; I asked to be accommodated with zoom calls. They wouldn’t accommodate me even though I couldn’t get there. I also needed help with counter balance training; Tilley received no training in counter balance. About a year ago Tilley was attacked by another dog and developed reactivity and still I received little in the way of help. One year ago I was asked to give a list of tasks that I wanted Tilley to be trained in. I emailed the list of tasks and received no help with those either. In the end I approached another company and was given the help I needed. The organization I went to didn’t believe in forcing a service dog to work. Unlike K9CI this organization abhorred the use of prongs or slip chains in gaining the cooperation of a working dog. Because of this I had to start Tilley back at square one doing training in loose leash walking, focus, settle and leave-it as at that point Tilley could only reliably potty on cue. This helped Tilley build the confidence and skills she needed to go back to PA. Just two weeks before Tilley was to have her PA exam there was another incident within the organization: a number of trainers left and the location for training changed yet again. With two weeks to go for Tilley’s PA test I walked away as I couldn’t trust their program anymore. Pass or fail I would never know if Tilley was truly a service dog. The piece of paper became pointless. At that point no one had trained Tilley to do any tasks from my list. In Ontario, all that is required is a doctors letter anyway; certification is not a standard. I implore you to stay far away from organizations like this that expect a lot of money up front for a training program that hasn’t delivered a trained service dog. Don’t settle for the drama, deceitful practices, lack of integrity, lack of privacy and lack of compassion this organization has for vulnerable populations. I am grateful for the internet and my resourcefulness as I was able to find other options that provided what I needed to get Tilley fully trained as a service dog at a fraction of the cost.

Unethical practices, actively discriminatory against people with disabilities, misleads about sources of funding, potential for improperly caring for dogs, and will lie to clients as well as disclose personal health information to other clients without consent.

Toxic environment, they have no business working with animals and more importantly no business working with the mentally ill population. Completely manipulative both financially and emotionally.

Unethical. Deceitful. Manipulative. Harmful to dog & handler - personally experienced & witnessed. Violates confidentiality of client information. Bullies those who speak the truth. Slandered & lied about me personally & professionally after I; with police advisement & support; terminated, evicted & trespassed them from my facility & property that they used & abused for 2 years. Zero integrity or accountability for their actions.

K9-CI has given me a new lease on life. The trainers are well educated and do their best to work with their clients. Laura, the owner, has a huge heart and loves to help people. I have found encouragement, compassion, and support within the K9-CI group and I am so grateful for the opportunities they have opened for me.
