The company came to do the asphalt at my property. Buyer beware.Their sales person, Reg, will promise you many things on the quote but when the boss comes to be the job he will tell you that some things cannot be done.During the asphalt job, their machine damaged my waterproofing membrane but they pretended they did not know how the damage happened.On top of that, I contacted them 3 times to comes to be repairs within their 1 year warranty period because the asphalt is sinking around the house. They decided to ignore me. Very unprofessional.

Kevin, Brian and Cody just finished our driveway. Amazing job from start to finish, even in the plus 40 degree heat ( temperature before the asphalt, plus 150 degrees during). Amazing crew, owners Steve and Steve are excellent to work with. All around nice bunch of guys. Would recommend them to anyone.

I got a new driveway installed with a interlock border and new step.Much higher quality than the previous driveway.Great Job.

I hired them to rip up my existing driveway then re-pave and widen it. I was having an issue where water was getting into my garage from rain and snow. They said they would be able to fix that with an appropriate slope. While ripping up the old driveway, they cracked the parging on my house. I asked that it be repaired and the owner reluctantly agreed to do so. After the first rain, the water in my garage was even worse. I contacted them and they came back and built up a patch on the side where most of the water was coming in. If you've ever seen what a patch looks like on a driveway, it's not pretty. There is no way to properly blend it in. The new patch didn't help, so I called again. Finally, the owner came and they put in another patch that looked like a speedbump. I also reminded him to fix the parging. Water still gets in and the driveway now looks like Frankenstein's monster.It's a year and a half later and the parging still isn't fixed and there is a crack in the driveway. I have called and texted repeatedly over the past 1.5 years to have the parging fixed. The owner keeps telling me there is a labour shortage and he will get it done when he can. I have offered to hire someone to fix it and send him the invoice, but he just said he would get it done. Most of the time, he just ignores my calls or texts.I'm a patient guy, but 1.5 years is pretty unreasonable. I have given up and cannot recommend this company.

17 Stars! Had Brian, Cody & Armondo (spelling?) came to redo the driveway, grade the front yard and reset my interlock in May. They did an amazing job -beyond what I had expected. Their attention to detail, friendly nature (they put up with a lot of questions from me) and their professionalism was beyond compare. I will be asking for them again to do my backyard as I was blown away with their skills! Thanks again.

Hired A1 Tophat for my driveway. Armando and Taylor were true professionals. They sloped my new section of driveway and watertested. The runoff went exactly where I wanted.Awesome job. Great company. Great staff.

Steve and the crew were exceptional. Pleasant to deal with. Even in the intense heat and sun the crew worked super hard. The backyard and driveway are stunning. I contracted A1 Tophat Blackcoat to repave the driveway and resod the back yard of one of my rental properties that I was selling. I was on a short time line. A1 Tobhat met my time time constraints and did an exemplary job on both the driveway and the sod. They were very communicative about a minor scheduling adjustment but they were still able to meet my requirement. I was very happy with A1 Tophat and am planning on hiring them for future work on other properties. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. Charged me for excavation but did not excavate. 7 months later the laneway had cracks and potholes. The owner Steve said that I might have a sinkhole under my laneway or maybe it is my neighbors routes from their tree that caused the problem. He promised to fix the problem but never kept his promise. Find another company to do your laneway.

We are so pleased with the work that TopHat did on our driveway and walkways! Honestly, they were a pleasure to deal with - right from Galena who very patiently helped us with the original estimate and picking out stone, to Steve and his crew who worked diligently to create a beautiful end product. Our project was a bit tricky because aside from installing an asphalt and stone driveway/pathway, the front walkway was original brick from the early 19thC which they had to carefully take up and relay. The final product is gorgeous! The crew was extremely friendly and skilled, and the project was on budget and on time. We will definitely be calling TopHat again when we work on our backyard.
