My husband and I went there for dinner attracted by the veggie meal offer for $9. We were greatly surprised by the quality of the meal, the size and also the other appetizers that we ordered. The service was very warm and friendly and they took the time to explain things about the meal and the Ethiopian culture. We had been at the other Ethiopian option on the drive before but prefer this one by far. This little café is a great discovery and we will sure come back.

First time here, and it was quite an experience! Definitely a must try, as it is very different than any of the typical food around Vancouver. The pic attached is their chicken and beef dish.

Hands down the best Ethiopean in the area.Family run, freshly made and excellent service.I come here often with a mixed crowd and its easy to have everyone find something. My vegan friend and I dine here together often. They also do a gluten free injera (though they do sometimes run out) so you get bring glute n intolerant friends too!The price is also excellent considering how full you are walking out of there!

Located at the heart of commercial drive, this is family restaurant. The owners are from Ethiopia, really nice and accommodates all your food preferences, combo plate is only $15 per person.. which is really cheap for a full dinner. They also provided us unlimited injera. Food tastes like comfort home-made and delicious.

normally I go to axum on Hastings and love them was in a rush and decided to go here for convienent reasons. worst decision. was looking forward to introducing a friend who had never had Ethiopian to the cultures food and got 30+$ of basically just bread/pancake with next to no actual meal. the owners were curt and off put until I tipped then plesant (payed when ordered not at pick up at their demand....red flag i should have headed too). their offering shrine was a good 1/6 of the floor space which wouldnt have been a thing if it didnt look like it was a bactiria haven. once I got home I was so dissatisfied I ended up ordering pizza for my guests because I would have been ashamed to give them what was served. - and as a side note take out in Styrofoam if u care about that type of thing.don't waste your time or money...

We came here with a group of 7 and every one of us thought the food/service was amazing. The owners are warm and welcoming and took some time to explain to the group who hadn't eaten Ethiopian cuisine before, how it is best enjoyed. The restaurant is cozy, vibrantly colored and our new favorite in east Van. We got the mixed veg platter which is also vegan. The rest of the group got mixed veg and meat and we all loved every bite. The place allows you to bring your own wine as they do not stock. Highly recommend

Best Ethiopian food in Vancouver! Every time we go, we enjoy our experience from the warm welcome to the beautiful atmosphere and the delicious home food at a fair price. You can taste the love that went into the preparation. I highly recommend this restaurant.

What a fantastic restaurant! They are so friendly warm and humble and the food is very flavourful. It's so important that we support local and their families as they stay in business because of us and if the food is great like it is. It's the first place I want my money to go to. Beautiful families! They also do vegan meals! This one was awesome!

Service was exceptional. We came in just before closing time and stayed for about an hour. We didn't feel rushed to get out at all. First time trying authentic Ethiopian cuisine and it was definitely an experience. Sharing a plate of food with friends and eating with our fingers is worth trying for those that are a bit more adventurous. Food was flavorful and the injera was delicious.

First time trying Ethiopian food. We were immediately welcomed and directed towards a great sharing option. The meal, as well as the service was wonderful throughout. Can't wait to return here with more friends!
