The Celtic Hearth
We stopped here for dinner, as recommended by our waitress in Brigus. Service was quick and friendly.I had the Cod Au Gratin (flaky cod baked in a creamy sauce topped with cheddar). I had a side salad with mine, and it was all very tasty. I would definitely go back again.

Nice atmosphere. Food and portions were fair for the price and tasted great. Julia at the bar was fantastic and provided excellent service and conversation for us in replacement for our actual server, who seemed close to non-existent.

The seafood chowder and the local beers are excellent! Mostly the staff is friendly and it is right in the heart of water street. In the summer the road is closed and it becomes a pedestrian street.

Terry is absolutely phenomenal. I’ve never had a better experience at a restaurant downtown or in general. Terry made me and my friends the most amazing cocktails with one single word prompt. He is seriously a genius and has been the highlight of my night.

ordered the Guinness burger that came out raw in the middle- I got sick after eating it but it did taste good besides being very very basic- only bbq sauce on the burger. I opted for roasted potatoes on the side and I only got like 4-6 roasted potatoes cut in half and I had to spit out 2 because they tasted mold filled. Nice location.

I've given the Celtic Hearth many chances but unfortunately it just hasn't gotten better, so I've gone for the last time. I went recently with my girlfriend. It wasn't very busy at all. The food took about 30-40 minutes to come out. Our server was very friendly, kind, and attentive, so I didn't really mind that wait.I got fish and chips and my girlfriend got the steak and cheese sandwich. Her sandwich was tasty, just very oily, which is a little off putting. My fish and chips were below average as well, with only getting a few fries that were luke warm, and the fish just tasted bad, the batter wasn't crunchy and just came right off the fish. ShameThe prices here have gotten ridiculous as well. You're better off going to yellowbelly or somewhere else nearby, you'll get more food, that's much better and fresher, and cheaper!I hope this restaurant can turn things around but in my opinion it's just not worth going, especially at the inflated prices.

Do this: fly from the west coast to the east coast in one day, check into your hotel when you arrive in st. johns, then head over to the Celtic hearth once your settled. Don't eat anything till you get there. Don't worry how late it is, they are open all night. However, you'll want a pint of something local (or two) so make it there before last call. Then order the moose burger. It's an experience you won't forget. Well done, Celtic Hearth.

Always awesome and count on able. I was looking for a place to eat last Wednesday night around 9pm and they were the only place I could find still serving. Today I came straight here.
