Buckhorn Sand & Gravel

Another positive experience with this company and its staff, this time improving our driveway and parking area. After requesting a quote, someone was on-site the same day! And done shortly after. Courteous in approach and skilled in doing the job.

Had the road done, .4 km, grading, 80 tones of gravel. The road was graded with a bobcat, the first time the gravel laid was not packed, uneven, ended up with new pot holes and washboard. After flagging the issues they come back with the bobcat, attempting to fix, pictures below are end result. My road will be back to potholes within a month after paying them over 2000. I had personally recommended them to the 8 cottages we have on our road and BSG let me down. Will not be using them going forward.

Called to arrange for some sand for our beach. Very pleasant to deal with on the phone. They called ahead to let me know sand was on its way. That's when the trouble started. Driver was very careless when maneuvering on the property and took out a brand new fence post - and didn't stop. Continued on down the driveway towards the beach and fully careened into a tree causing a large gash in the tree. Dumped the load and proceeded to get stuck.The load of what was supposed to be clean sand consists of clay, dirt, roots, and rocks up to the size of my fist. It was supposed to be clean, screened play sand.I called the company the next morning and spoke with Jeff the owner. Said he was going to charge me by the hour for the time it took to get his truck unstuck if I wanted him to look at the broken fence post or the cost of the arborist to try and save the old tree that they drove into. Jeff was very defensive about the property damage. Not apologetic at all about the quality of his product. They charge you by weight, not volume, so the weight of all the extra rocks, mud and clay greatly diminishes the actual sand you get.In the end it looks like I'm stuck with poor quality product on my beach and the cost to clean up their damage to my property.Stay away from these guys if you want a quality product and some customer service. Doesn't seem to be part of their business plan!

I am in love with my new shoreline! It is beautiful! Mitch, Jeff and the team did such a great job restoring the eroding shoreline and installing armour stone. Not only was BSG much lower priced than competitors, they were incredibly helpful, responsive and skilled. They offered suggestions to improve my original ideas and make them even better. They demonstrated a great knowledge of working with shorelines and helping to create a shoreline that will last my lifetime. I would highly recommend BSG. We are incredibly happy with our shoreline and boat slip.

A few years ago we decided that our eroding shoreline needed work. After careful consideration we chose armour stone. Then came the fun part, choosing a provider. We started checking out the work of various contractors, both during their work, and revisiting a year later to see how it looked and stood up. We elected to go with BSG. Jeff came out to see what we envisioned. We wanted the shoreline to look as natural as possible, and allow easy access out of the water for the kids and dogs. We chose to have the finished elevation 2 inches above average summer water level, and chose natural grey limestone. We were so confident of the end result that our immediate neighbor had his shoreline contracted to be done at the same time on our recommendation. When the team came for the install, we briefly articulated our vision and left them to it. We are very happy with the result. The rocks were huge, approx 6 feet long and 28 inches thick. The front faces even had built in ledges to help with the dogs climbing out of the water. Access between our house and cedar hedge was extremely tight and some of the cedar did leave with the trucks, but what would one expect moving fully loaded dump trucks down an icy slope. I have included a few photos. We are very pleased with our experience with this project and would recommend BSG for your consideration. As an aside, our other next door neighbor had BSG complete their shoreline this past month. ( Both neighbors are still talking to us..)

I cannot express our wonderful experience with Buckhorn Sand and Gravel. We had a water issue that we thought would be resolved by digging around the house and putting in a drain. As an abundance of caution, we decided to have more work done. They installed a tier (we had a large field that sloped directly to the house) and a dip redirecting the water away from the home. They often came up with creative solutions to unmovable granite boulders that were in their way. They pleasantly resolved every concern we had. They worked efficiently, were professional, knowledgeable, incredibly polite, and left the property beautiful. It’s going to be even better when the grass grows! A HUGE thank you to Buckhorn Sand and Gravel.

I had a fantastic experience with their sewage pump out team. Thank you to Jonathan (I hope I got his name right) who took the time to explain how the septic tank works and how I should maintain it — this will save me from future SHITsasters!! He was fabulous! I had an unusual project. I needed my bunkie moved. Jeff came and looked at the project and agreed that was something they could do.When the crew arrived - Wes and Richard immediately set to work moving huge rocks to prepare a new pad. I then threw a curve at them and said I also wanted the building rotated 90 degrees. Wes did not hesitate in saying he could do that.It was not an easy job pulling a bunkie into a new position and also rotating the structure. In a little over a day the job was done. I couldn’t be happier with the result—it exceeded my expectations! Wes was exceptionally skilled operating the excavator and bobcat. They were pleasant, hardworking and professional. I highly recommend Buckhorn Sand and Gravel.

We are so very pleased to have hired Buckhorn Sand and Gravel to complete an extensive outdoor project for us. We love our lake house in Buckhorn but the outside was plain, weed filled spotty grass yard, front and back, no landscaping or plant beds and lots of flat land with no appeal or architectural interest. It was a huge project that required significant hard and soft scaping.What was delivered versus what we envisioned was beyond our expectations.Jeff Chesher, the owner is just a great guy and we really felt supported and understood throughout the project. He did a great job executing and managing other service providers in bringing this project to life.When we first met with Jeff, he had his right hand man Jamie with him. We walked around our property and we shared some of our ideas with them but it was clear to us that Jamie not only listened and embraced our ideas, but he came up with even better ideas and needed very little guidance from us in not only bringing our vision to life – but in adding so much more and creating beautiful structures that we could not have even imagined. Jamie too had his right hand – Scott! And between the two of them – they are truly skilled and amazing artisans! The elevated fire pit surrounded by huge granite stones and raised flower beds, flagstone design patio and walkway, the huge granite rock gardens (front and back), huge stone stairway around one side of our property and the 3 level armor stone wall outside our sunroom is absolutely gorgeous! Both Jamie and Scott are very hard workers and truly take a lot of pride in their work! There were also many other people from Buckhorn Sand and Gravel who worked on this project and they were all experienced, friendly and very hard working team members.Jeff was also instrumental in helping connect us with other people who helped us with tree and plant, irrigation, sod installation, electricians and so much more!My husband and I were new to Buckhorn and one of the best decisions we made was hiring Buckhorn Sand and Gravel.
