Atwater is the real deal for top level cocktails in Montreal. I live near NYC and regularly go to the top cocktail bars there. Atwater Cocktail Club has the ambiance, creative bartenders, and unique decor to compete with the best.We tried 4 cocktails and all were well balanced with unique ingredients that delighted the palate.40 Theives - whisky based cocktail with subtle fruit flavor served from a genie bottle. Excellent presentation!Chocolate martini - balance of vodka, espresso, and chocolate that wasn’t too sweet but still had a rich chocolate flavor.Smoke show - best presentation! A whisky drink coming out of a smoke filled container with flavors of berries, yet not syrupy or too sweet.Founders Reserve - their take on an Old Fashioned with a mix of bitters that gives it a truly unique and dynamic taste.

Going to this beautiful hidden yet very popular bar is like walking into a hazy dream. The decor is dreamy and unique. The service is impeccable yet the staff is very friendly. The drinks are made with unconventional ingredients yet the flavors combined together create an unique experience.I first went to this bar for happy hour after work and there was no line up and the music wasn’t as loud. This time, I went on a weekend and you have to expect a lineup of 30 minutes and the music was blasting with 2000-2010 hip hop and pop songs which was fun and light.

Don’t be fooled by the speakeasy entrance, this cocktail club has a great vibe and every cocktail was a hit. We planned to have just one but stayed for several the cocktails were that good!

Awesome place to have a few drinks. Fun atmosphere and a notable menu. There’s a drink here for everyone and we really enjoyed everything we ordered.If you’re after a solid speakeasy experience, add the Atwater Cocktail Club to your list.We did have to wait in line for a while — but the guy watching the door was nice and I would say it was worth the wait.

My work friends introduced me to this hidden gem and I immediately decided to revisit. Last night was their 7th anniversary! My friend and I had a blast. The drinks are creative and very delicious. Love the whole idea and the atmosphere. I'll definitely come back another time!

Great vibe at this hidden speakeasy. The cocktails are well known here and do not disappoint but don’t miss the food.If you follow me on Google you know I don’t hand out 5 star reviews to hardly anyone. This place I would go back anytime and visit again. The food was surprisingly delicious and I loved the two dishes we ordered.The smoked octopus was so tasty and just a hint from the smoked cooking. Not overdone like some people do when smoking meat.The chicken mousse was also tasty and had a surprisingly well matched apple/pear gel that really opened it up and made it taste bright.

I honestly don't understand how this bar could get 50bestdiscovery and canadasbest100. Bartenders are absolutely not professional and unfriendly. The only good thing about this bar is the interior but this really isn't worth going there. We asked for their signature cocktails and that was total trash. A glass with plenty of ice and no taste at all. Bartenders simply don't understand what cocktails should look or taste like. So as a newcomer to Montreal I'd rather recommend Karisma tacos bar for mezcalita or if you want something more sophisticated wait until the war will finish in Ukraine and visit Beatnik bar.
