Leaside High School

Great venue. In my experience, one of the best Esperanto learning centres in southern Ontario. The teachers were great, and with their effective twice-weekly sessions, I was speaking Esperanto within a few months! However, some of the staff were a bit too pro-Hendrik Verwoerd for my liking.

There are some really great teachers here who seem dedicated to students learning. The only downside is the quality of infrastructure does not match the neighborhood this building is located in.

Pretty good for a public school! I especially loved the South African history from 1948 classes and really enjoyed the positive and anti-ANC environment! Would recommend.

This school is a disaster. First of all, they pay mo attention to the students. Fights, drinking, vaping, and even gambling occurs on campus without a single thing being done. Knives/Pocket knives are another big problem. After months of enrolment, my son was desperate to leave this school. The school demands for loads of money, but you would think it goes towards the students. It doesn’t. God knows what they do. They surely don’t happen to fix their water pipes. Countless times contaminated, which students drink from. Money doesn’t even go towards their ceilings, yes, their ceilings. Countless holes. Dust, and other particles leaking out. There is also an absurd amount of racism at this school causing many coloured students to leave, which you would see if you entered the school and searched. The school has been around since 1945, and is over populated. Some students in 11 who need courses crucial to decide what they become cannot even take them. If you confront the school about they say there is nothing you can do. 2 Years ago there happened to be only 1-2 problems, but nothing too major. I believe after a principal change, the school has been in shambles. Nobody is organized, and a lack in matinence, leading to dusty hallways, gyms, lack of sports equipment, and holes in the ceilings. If you wish to enrol in Leaside, I would advise going to Nothern Secondary School. If you need a french program, Agincourt CICedarbrae CI , Humberside CI, L'Amoreaux CI,Lawrence Park CI, Malvern CI, Newtonbrook SS,Oakwood CI, Richview CI, Riverdale CI would all be better than Leaside. DO NOT ENROL IN THIS SCHOOL!

A great high school In a great location. Great teachers provide a wonderful learning environment. Leaside High has phenomenol athletics and clubs to assist in a great highschool experience

Decent gym facility for recreational intermediate advanced volleyball. The ceilings are high but due to the lights and fan ventilation fixtures, ceiling can feel lower, especially when digging hard-hit balls. Biggest annoyance is when ball hits ceiling with force, and chunks of dust pieces fall down to the floor, and need to take break to clean floor. Gym can be warm or cold depending on weather. Equipment is ok. There's another bigger gym adjacent and that seems more spacious.
