i have trained with the chief instructors and students of this dojo at several seminars. I found the students to be joyfully engaged in the practice of aikido. I think that is a great reflection of the intentions of the senior instructors. The chief instructors are approachable, personable, and have a great attitude towards the practice and teaching of aikido.

Senseis Josh and MG are long time martial artists of dedication of skill. Their passion and drive to build and grow a home for the practice of the art of peace while simultaneously honing their own skills continuously is the mark of a true dojo.I look forward to every opportunity to train with both of them.

Actually dojos are supposed to be quiet. It is a place of learning. It is difficult to receive instructions from the Sensei if everyone is speaking at the same time. A dojo is also a place of calmness and rejuvenation. Once in the dojo, the hustle and bustle of the outside world disappear for a brief moment in time. Those in the know appreciate this. This dojo is such a place with friendly aikidoka. It offers a solid base for learning an exceptional martial art by honouring the past and having faith in the future - all this in silence until the training is over and laughter and fun discussions return.

Monteregie Aikikai is a great dojo to practice and learn aikido. While the aikido style is precise, physical and vigorous, the instructors -Josh and Marilene- always take great care in making activities safe for all levels. The vibe is friendly and accepting, but always disciplined.I cannot say enough positive things about the two instructors. I've known them for over a decade, and they have dedicated innumerable hours to the art and the community.I honestly feel Monteregie is lucky to have this dojo.

Great traditional dojo filled with dedicated and passionate aikido practitioners. It was my home dojo for a few years and I am proof of the effort and the dedication that the instructor and all the students have put to build this dojo

A 6 stars dojo!!!This is an awesome dojo, a very professional and friendly environment. I had the chance to enjoy of an intensive training period of two weeks (training up to 5 hours per day) accompanied by my son, it was a great experience, I have no enough positive words to describe our experience there.Layton Sensei, Marilene and their students gave us a very warm welcome, we enjoyed every second of rigorous practice, in this very peaceful environment. After each class, we were eager to start over, it was definitively a wonderful enriching experience for us. We are really looking forward to repeating the experience.I strongly recommend this dojo to anyone whiling to know about this martial art, Layton Sensei and Marilene are very dedicated, it is not really possible to describe with words, but you will be able to feel their passion for this martial art during training, additionally their students are also very friendly and dedicated, making it the perfect combination to enjoy practice and to return for more.

I have been practicing Aikido for well over a decade, and in my experience, this dojo rates as one of the best places to practice the martial art. I was visiting Montreal from New York and stopped in for a Friday evening class. Layton Sensei and his students gave me a very warm welcome and we enjoyed what was quite a rigorous practice in a safe and positive space. Having seen Layton Sensei at various Aikido seminars and camps over the years, I have always appreciated and admired his ability in the art. It was great to be able to finally visit his dojo and to witness the school that he and Marilene have created!

Senseis Joshua & MG have created such a positive & supportive community! I was able to visit their dojo last Oct. 2019. I sincerely had a great experience while taking a beginner class. The dojo is beautiful, I was welcomed & felt such a calm, bright & peaceful spirit while training. If you are ever in this part of Canada, I would recommend you visit. I am very thankful that I made the time to train at this dojo during my trip to Montreal & the surrounding area.

I've been studying aikido under Layton Sensei for a year and a half and will continue to do so as long as my body permits. This is a 5 star dojo. Nothing less. My only regret: I didn't start sooner. I practice with outstanding teachers and great fellow students. I'm always eager for my next class and I never leave the dojo without having learned something new, even when I'm having a bad practice and nothing seems to go right.
