I really enjoyed the food here, very flavourful and unique. I had the mushroom toast and it was delicious. Coffee was also good, and I'm pretty picky about that. Server was friendly.

I have eaten here multiple times with different groups of people (dine in and take out) and I’ve never had a bad experience. I’ve tried the bread pudding and it was really different since it was savory, but it was hands down the best item I’ve had there. I’ve also tried the French toast (photo below), the breakfast sandwich, and the salmon Benny which were all delicious. Their coffee is great and they have decaf options. The only reason I would not give this five stars is because it can be a little pricy.

Our friends have been urging us to try this place. But we had a ferry to catch and didn't want to be stuck downtown. However, after Google guided us to a less-than-appealing cafe in Christchurch, we decided that we might as well try Bear and Joey. I was dressed in sensible 'ferry-traveling-and-hiking' garb and we didn't have a reservation, the maître d' wasn't thrilled but seated us anyway. One of the original reason I hesitated in coming was the menu. But once we were there, the menu made a lot more sense and we actually had a hard time choosing. My weakness was breakfast sandwich, but at the last minute, I ordered the pork belly sandwich. My partner ordered the fresh toast, of course! We think this place should get a Michelin Star for sure. From ingredients to execution, the food was amazing. I usually only eat salad because it is healthy but actually hating it. But the Bear and Joey kohlrabi and picked cabbage salad was AMAZING, not boring at all. I couldn't stop eating it and finished the salad before attacking the fennel and orange pork belly sandwich. The bread was extra crusty which was quite enjoyable. The pork belly had enough fat to melt in my mouth. Consuming this was a wondering experience. There was a lot of 'mmm' sounds and smiles coming from across the table while my partner enjoyed the french toast. There was a lot more variety of fruit on the french toast that were not mentioned on the menu. If this place was in Vancouver, I imagine it might take us a while to get a reservation. Well done!

One of my favourite brunch restaurants in all of Victoria. The owners and staff and friendly and lovely people, the food is amazing and consistently delicious. I’ve eaten here over 20 times over the last two years and it’s never not been great. The drinks are great, the aesthetic and atmosphere is wonderful.Cannot recommend this place enough!

Beautiful impressions both outside and inside. Arrived at lunch hour today (Saturday) as a party of two, and even though there was a lineup outside, we were seated right away. The host who seated us was welcoming and polite, and menus were brought to us right away. An individual was seated at the table beside us and shortly after was presented with a menu and a bottle of water. As we browsed the menu and debated which of the interesting options to choose, the waitress came by and took the order for the person beside us. We tried to catch the eye of other staff members but weren’t able to do so. The positive impression and vibe changed for us and we decided to get up and go. On the way out, I briefly shared our experience with the host, who was apologetic, but didn’t seemed surprised. We weren’t going to let this one episode shade our foodie weekend visit in Victoria, as we’d just had a wonderful tea at Butchart Garden’s The Dining Room and fantastic meal at Wind Cries Mary the day before, but it is worth sharing with others. Not sure if it was management of staff and table assignment or some other reason, but we’re very fortunate that Victoria has so many exemplary establishments to experience.

I’ve been in this restaurant twice: once sat outside and once inside.Pros: food is delicious and healthy,Service is nice and friendly,Decor and furniture is modern and relaxing colours,Outside patio with heater,Some beautiful and cute merchandise.Con: there is something wrong with audio insulation of the restaurant that makes it very noisy. So if you need a cosy and quiet place that you can chat easily with friends, it’s better to sit outside.
