There is no air conditioning in this long term care home. This is abuse of the residents and the staff.

These negative reviews about the lack of air conditioning make me angry. These people obviously don't know anything about the home. For one it is a not for profit home: it has a tempered air system which maintains a constant comfortable temperature year round. The same kind of system as you would find in a hospital or large office building. There are also big windows that the residents can open if they wish. The McCormick Care Group, formerly the Women's Christian Association fund raise to provide a lot of extra services other Long Term Care facilities do not provide. The staff are very kind, caring and supportive of resident and family members.I have visited a family member at this home for nine years . Is that long enough to assess the facility, the standard of cooking and heating, and dedication of the staff?Don't believe everything you read, do your own research, and beware of people who take delight in making derogatory comments.

Poor infection control. Many, many layers of management, never enough frontline staff. No air conditioning, refused government mandatory a/c installation, (took the money for it), would rather continue to fight in court. Very old, small living quarters. Poor customer satisfaction. Unhappy staff. High staff turnover, constant ministry problems. A dinosaur of LTC. Look elsewhere.

You don't know the definition of air conditioning! This is disgusting to see that you refuse to install air conditioning as you don't know the definition". People deserve the basic right to stay cool and comfortable. Where are the profits going?"

Get the air condition systems that are required by law. Stop being selfish and money hungry!

Update: I called and filed a formal complaint. It was dealt with promptly, there were apologies and action taken. I feel that I was heard, understood and treated with respect. The experience made me change my rating from 2 stars to 3 and will be moved to 4 stars pending my next trial of respite to seean improvement. I loved how it was viewed not as a hassle but as an opportunity to grow. I was thanked for my information as it gave them direction of what went wrong and how it can be avoided. Excellent execution of complaint process.*Tl;dr most staff was friendly. The facility didnt smell of urine. That's why I gave it 2 stars. She came home worse than when she left for things that were easily preventable.*Took my loved one there for a one week respite. Gave as much detail as possible. I was excited because from my understanding this is one of the best nursing homes in London.Check in was hectic and I felt like a burden but I just shrugged it off because I know about the staffing issues and I would rather be inconvenienced than have the residents neglected.I received no phone calls about her care during the week so I assumed she did wCame to get her at the end of the week and she had fluid buildup in her feet, hallucinations because her hearing aids died (she has dementia and it helps keep her lucid) and nobody bothered to help her change them. She was asking me for cream because her hands became cracked and were getting sores. Which we have never had while she was living with usAfter chatting with her, I found out she wasnt being assisted with getting dressed into new clothes so the only days she remembers getting new clothes was the 2 shower days she was there. My loved one didnt participate in any activities because she was too embarrassed to ask what they were saying because she couldnt hearThey were successful at managing her blood sugars but not her sodium. We will find out tomorrow how much water weight she has put on when we weigh her in the morning. She has CHF and Diabetes. While the staff member who physically checked us out of there was pleasant and trying to accomodate, it appears she was swimming upstream against a broken system with staffing issues requiring them to be pulled in multiple directions at once. While she was able to walk out of there, she was definitely worse off than when she went in. So keep this in mind if this is the best level of care we have in London when choosing a home for your loved one.

There is an air conditioning system. It is just a different kind of system. My mother is there and it is always a pleasant temperature! Don’t believe everything you read! Thanks
