Rising Sun Martial Arts

Rising Sun is the best place to learn martial arts! I've been a student at Rising Sun since 2013 and have loved every minute of my taekwondo journey here. Master Martin and Master Chris are incredible teachers who are devoted to teaching and lifelong learning. I would highly recommend Rising Sun to any potential student, young or old, who is looking for a place to learn martial arts, and get a great workout in at the same time!

This is by far the best Martial Arts gym around! I trained with the Grand Master Martin when I was in my teens and now I have my kids training with him.I know there are other good Martial Arts schools around but at Rising Sun I know what I’m going to get.I had my kids training at another martial arts gym and didn’t like how they were forcing them to grade for belts they didn’t deserve. Every grading was $$ and even the Grand Master at that gym was hardly ever there and hardly ever took part in classes.Grand Master Martin however teaches all of the kids classes during the week as well as the adult classes. Master Chris his son is also an instructor and is awesome.They do it all....they have after school programs as well as hosts birthday parties. And have a great Christmas party for members.All the equipment you need is available here without having to search the city for it. The pricing is fair. There is no weight room. Bathrooms are clean.My kids love coming to Rising Sun...compared to the other place they went Rising Sun is the definite winner for them and I.Thanks again Grand Master Martin and Master Chris for shearing your knowledge.

I am so happy to have found Rising Sun who is a part of our lives. My Son, daughter and husband are members of this club. My daughter can't wait for Wednesdays, Friday's, Saturday's and Sunday's since these are the days she attends classes. My son? well not only does he enjoy it but loves the new friends that he has made. I finally found something that both my kids enjoy and look forward to. I owe it all to Master Martin, Miss Claudine, Chris Martin and Danny. They have been great role models to my kids. As a mother, you want your kids to be in a safe environment and Rising Sun is that place. Master Martin and team have been kind, honest and respectful. Not only do they care about the kids, they also give back to the community. They donated some of there items to help with raising money for Run for the Cure" and recently had a charity event take place at the club and was able to raise money for the Sick Kids Foundation. I attended this event and was extremely impressed with how it ran and how much Rising Sun was able to raise in a short period of time (over $4000.00). I can go on and on about Rising Sun and what a difference this place has made for both my kids in different ways. My kids and husband are into there 2nd year of membership and we will continue to be members for the foreseeable future."

My oldest son did summer camp last year and enjoyed himself so much that we signed him up in the fall. The masters have been patient (and firm) when they need to be and his confidence has grown along with his abilities. Both of my sons now attend along with friends of theirs, and we couldn't be happier with their development.Thank you Master Danny for starting it for my son, and the rest of the staff/students for nurturing them.

My daughter has been attending Rising Sun for the past 3 years and absolutely loves it. The students are taught respect and discipline in a friendly environment. Her skills and cardio have improved dramatically. The students are very encouraging of one another. Master Martin and his team are fantastic role models for the kids and adults as well.

My inital and only experience with Rising Sun has been with the after school care program. And the experience has been fantastic. As a single working parent (the weeks I have my kids), I needed a reliable and flexible solution for after school care, and somewhere where my kids were not just sitting around. My daughter had seen the Rising Sun bus and had heard about the program from a friend, so we checked them out and ended up enrolling the kids in the program. Both kids enjoy the program, with my daughter being so engrossed in learning and in her progress, that she asks to stay longer and to do extra time at the facility. The staff are excellent and the kids love them. The bussing is super convenient for us. And, overall, they have been amazingly flexible around all of our other commitments, late GO trains, and everything else that life throws at is. The kids are working through their martial arts development and seeing results, and I have peace of mind. While I cannot speak to the dedicated classes, I can strongly and highly recommend the after school and camp based care programs. Keep it up!

This is an amazing place to host birthday parties!!!Everything is set up as a parent would want. Clean, fun and super helpful and engaged staff! We have done two parties here.

My son started at Rising Sun about 8 months ago, one month in my daughter wanted to join as well. This has been a very positive experience for both of them and my husband and I have noticed that their ability to focus and their confidence has improved. All of the masters are patient and support the kids as they move through the levels and the patterns become more complex. The structured atmosphere helps with self discipline while there is always an element of fun and healthy competition.

My kids and I have been training at Rising Sun for almost 4 years and I cannot say enough great things about them!! They are like a family to us!Both Master Martin and Master Chris provide a safe friendly yet challenging training environment for kids as well as adults.Coming here is a great way to get in shape, meet like minded friends, learn how to defend yourself which in today’s time is invaluable. Kids learn respect, self- discipline and build confidence while having fun.Master Martin is the type of person that inspires you to not only to be a better martial artist but also a better person.I highly recommend this place!!

My parents put me in martial arts classes at Rising Sun when I was 3 years old so that I could develop confidence and a sense of discipline. Throughout my 14 year journey, not only did I build self confidence and develop a strong understanding of discipline, but I also established a deep understanding of perseverance and self-control. Both Master Martin and Master Chris supported me through all my ups and downs and taught me more than I could have ever imagined. Being at Rising Sun is more than simply participating in martial arts classes, it is joining a family that will always support you no matter what the scenario is. Although I am now in university, I always return to class whenever I am in town because of the positive impact that Rising Sun had on my life.Dee3rd Degree Black Belt
