Newport Brushstrokes Fine Art Inc.

During the process of trying to sell some artwork for me through Newport Brushstrokes, Mr. Charles Barr, an independent art broker working with Newport Brushstrokes, mentioned that he would have an oil painting done for me of any photograph that I choose. I told my 101 year-old mother about this offer, and I told her to pick out a photo to be painted. She chose a photo of her and my dad on their wedding day on December 29, 1945. The photo was black and white, so we had to inform Newport Brushstrokes of the colors to use. I presented the painting to my mom on Christmas day. When I took the painting out of the box I noticed a note looking like an invoice. The note said send to Blend Cota. I asked Mr. Barr if Blend Cota painted my parent's photo. He confirmed that indeed he did. We could not be more thrilled with the finished painting. Enclosed is a picture of me presenting mom with the painting. She is shown giving it a thumbs up. While exploring art companies, like this one, and after reviewing a few comments pertaining to scams, I am not sure I would trust this company; I don't like making assumptions since I haven't worked with them in the past, but I do feel for those who've been scammed, especially when the reviews by those involve older adults. I am no attorney, lawyer, or a law enforcement inspector by trade, but I am beggining to think this is a shady company. Perhaps those who've been scammed should contact their local state FBI office(s) or go international and contact INTERPOL.

UPDATE: NOTHING HAS CHANGED. A FEW MORE PROMISES MADE OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS, BUT STILL NO FOLLOW THROUGH ON ANYTHING. STILL WAITING NEWPORT BRUSHSTROKES......This appears to be a VERY SHADY company! We have had two dealings with them, both times left high and dry. The second time the salesman, Charles Barr, guaranteed in writing that my folks would be reimbursed for the full cost of their investment if in any way the deal did not come to fruition. Attached is a photo of Charles' guarantee.Charles guaranteed the deal would be completed in 60-90 days.However, after 10 months the deal" still has not come to fruition. This second go around with this company they even went through the motions like there was a deal such as making my parents pay tariffs for the shipping of the art to the new owners. At least 3 schedules for payment and shipping were made. All have been broken. There was always an excuse that was never Newport's fault-having trouble lining up shipping

My wife and I wanted a formal oil painting and we had heard of Newport Brushstrokes Fine Art in Montreal. We talked to David Martin who explained the process in detail. We sent him a digitized picture and within a couple of weeks he sent us a digitized proof of our oil painting. We discussed a few minor changes with David and with in a few weeks we received our beautiful framed oil portrait. We highly recommend David and Newport Brushstrokes Fine Art for anyone interested in a great oil portrait.

To Newport Brushstrokes: the four headmaster portraits are exceptional! Your artists have done a remarkable job in creating such true likenesses of these men for whom, in most cases, we had only a small photo as a visual reference. Allowing us to see the paintings during the process was so nice — even though the artists were all spot on, it gave us the opportunity to suggest modifications mid-course, should we need any. We’re so pleased to have these portraits in hand before the dedication of the school's headmasters leadership gallery. I know it will mean so much to the families of the headmasters to see such a beautiful tribute to their fathers.Bram’s attention to this project has been equally masterful. He is the consummate client advocate, with unfailing follow-through.We look forward to future projects!

I spent some of the happiest years of my life living on the side of a mountain with the man I loved. Two years ago he suddenly past away. His daughter was not a very nice person and gave me two months to move out of what I had considered my forever home. I had some great photos of the property and decided to have one of them painted on canvas so I could forever enjoy the memories. I call it My View From the Back Deck". We would sit for hours watching so many different varieties of wild life. The painting is a beautiful rendition of the photo. I will cherish it forever. Great job Newport Brushstrokes."
