I recently completed two courses at FACT Plus: Wilderness First Aid and Advanced Wilderness Survival. I am thoroughly satisfied with both courses; a wealth of information was delivered in a easily digestible manner, and underscored by practical application throughout.Ross is an excellent teacher, and extremely passionate about the subject matter. Any question you might pose to him, he not only has the answer, but also always seems to have a personal anecdote to drive the teaching home. Ross' practical, hands-on method of teaching leaves me confident that I will be able to retain the information and recall it in the future, something that I can't say for traditional textbook and power point style courses.Ross is also extremely personable and goes to great lengths to ensure that everyone feels comfortable and welcome. Despite the fast pace of both courses, and the huge amount of information to cover, Ross still found plenty of time to chat and engage with me about my experiences and aspirations that had led me to take his courses.If your looking to take a first aid course, or want to learn more about the outdoors, I'd recommend any of Ross' courses without hesitation.

Brace yourself! Ross (owner/instructor) will immerse you in life like scenarios that will test you. Fact Plus’ approach of prioratizing practical over theory makes you maintain and hold on to what you learn in theory. It helps that Ross is charasmatic and has a big heart.Ross and Lisa (his wife and business partner) were amazing host’s as well! They accommodated us during our course of 4 days and allowed us to camp out on their property. If your looking for hands on approach with a great mentor Fact Plus is where its at.Other things to note-They focus on building confidence over discipline-They are prompt and quick to reply via email-As you get closer to your course start date they will send you a list of recommended items to bring. I STRONGLY suggest to follow it.-If you have clothes that you don’t mind getting ripped/cut/fake blood on BRING them.P.S he makes amazing helicopter sounds.

My friends and I took the Advanced Wilderness First Aid course over the weekend to prepare for a summer of leading canoe trips at our overnight camp. We learnt so much and had a ton of fun, by far the best first aid course any of us had ever taken. Ross has an incredibly passionate and engaged way of teaching, you can tell he cares deeply about the subject matter and getting more first aiders out there. Thank you Ross!!

It's impossible NOT to learn something in this course (Wilderness First Aid). Ross is so knowledgeable and a great teacher. He is kind and engaging, and the information he shares is clear and easy to grasp. The scenarios we all usually dread in first aid courses are the best part of the course and you end up looking forward to them.We also laughed so much. The 4 day course really flew by!!I feel much more confident and comfortable with my first aid skills. I'll definitely be coming back to him in 3 years when I need to renew the certification. I recently completed the Land Nav 1 course for one day. I have to say that Ross is a fantastic instructor with an extreme depth of knowledge of all land nav, survival, and Emergency response .. His years of service knowledge clearly show up in the way he explains complex concepts. Lisa is accommodating, helpful, and very friendly.

Ross is a very talented individual with a wealth of knowledge and experience. I have taken many job-related courses from experienced instructors who cannot effectively teach" anyone - this is not the case with Ross. He does a fantastic job of working with you until you understand concepts and then encourages lots of hands-on practice

Could not speak more highly of this course. Ross was so effective at conveying the significant amount of information covered in the Wilderness First Aid course by doing it in an engaging, hands on way. The scenarios were all extremely useful in practicing the skills learned in the classroom. Ross and Lisa are both a wealth of knowledge and were a pleasure to be around!I would recommend this course to anyone who has an interest in outdoor activities for pleasure or for work. Just completed the wilderness and remote first aid course. Where to start?Ross is through in his teaching, his knowledge and his real life experiences and is able to share them in a meaningful way to aid in learning.Ross is careful to check in with attendees to make sure they are understanding the content, and that they are physically ok. One person on our course got dehydrated, and Ross stayed by their side while the rest of the group was doing their water rescue scenarios. He encouraged them to drink and kept them talking to ensure their well being. He is atuned to the feelings of others and I feel that's very important when the course content might be covering difficult things.I can't wait to take another course with him! He is the BEST!
