The toll collector was extremely rude and decided it was part of his job to admonish me for not having cash on me. I haven't seen a cash-only toll in at least 20 years.

When initially implemented, tolls where intended to be a temporary measure. The existence of tolls, even with macpasses, creates artificial congestion and traffic that stymies the city every day at rush hour. It chockes the Dartmouth side of the harbour off, especially from tourists who may not anticipate or be willing to cross a toll. The friction it creates in what is supposedly a unified HRM is antagonistic to the valid vision of Halifax as a progressive and cohesive city, and furthers a fractured and regressive local culture.

Missed staying left to Barrington St and ended up on the bridge. Saw the sign that the toll station was 1.5 km ahead when I was already on the bridge with no other way to turn around. Paid the 1 dollar turned off the nearest exit to head back to Halifax, didn't expect that u-turn would cost me another dollar. Explained to the toll collector that I just came across the bridge and want to head back to Halifax - he was unsympathetic and factually just told me to drop the dollar and go over the bridge.Signage in Halifax needs improvement. For someone travelling from out of town, it was very frustrating and having missed a turn with no way to turn around and pay for the mistake twice just killed any highlight of a time visiting Halifax. I really enjoyed the evening seeing the city come to life downtown with the annual Nocturne event. But this blew it, very unfortunately. Two bucks ... no big deal. But to spend them this way was thumbs-down.

GOOGLE SAYS THERE IS NO TOLL BUT THERE IS. Not to mention when I went through the bridge There wasnt a place to put change idk what I was supposed to do. They blew some horn at me because I was taking to long so I said screw it and drove away.

Bridge police are rude and not very friendly at all. I'm so sorry that YOUR scanner didn't pick up my Macpass and that you had to walk 10 feet to swipe me through. If that's really all you have to do all day, then I think you've got it pretty good.

would be nice to see a more efficient toll system in place like pay by plate. if you live in HRM and drive at all, just get a macpass and safe yourself the stress.

Only do work during rush hours which is the actual worst.

A relatively short bridge to Dartmouth to and from Halifax. The toll is $1.25 (May 2023) and it is cash only. The bridge is kind of old but still quite pretty.

The big question is how does this bridge compare to the McDonald? I prefer the McKay because the off-ramp into Dartmouth leads right to the highway which is good for me because I'm generally heading to the Eastern Shore. In some cases the McDonald is the faster option, but I still like the ease of use the McKay offers.
