Located in a converted industrial building along St. Patrick street on the south side of the canal, Ruby Café is on the same premises as the dog hotel Doggieville. The resto-cafe is very airy with a welcoming but industrial vibe.We order a number of dishes including Le Berger QC Grilled Cheese (very good, more basil-y than goat cheese), Raisin Roll (fresh and tasty), La Tartine (ok...their take on an avo-toast but had a strong vinegar taste), French Toast sticks (very good, panko crusted), the Smiley Breakfast (classic bacon and eggs combo) along with two smoothies. Service was friendly and the meal was served surprisingly quickly (no complaints). Overall a nice place to have a fun weekend, pet-friendly, brunch.A bonus is that the café is along the Lachine Canal so you can go for a nice walk after your meal and even visit the nearby Atwater market.NOTE: This is a pet friendly restaurant which means there are alot of dogs on site and there is frequent barking. It can be a bit startling at times but is not generally an issue.

I’m only giving 3 stars because the food is instagrammable but the taste is lacking. On the other hand, the staff is very professional and very nice! It’s a doggy cafe so I can’t expect too much, it’s so nice to find places to bring your fur babies.

Great brunch spot to bring your fury friends, great atmosphere, friendly staff and spacious place. Food was good, will definitely be coming back when I'm in the MTL area. Would recommend making a reservation before heading in!

This was our first time and we'll be back. The food for humans is really good and our doggo loved the doggy beer and meatballs. If you have a dog or even if you just like dogs then this place is worth a visit. Olivia was really helpful!

Fantastic food, after two months, was the only place where I found good food in Canada. Noticeable high quality and fresh ingredients. The idea of pet space is amazing, well done, and a beautiful environment. Congratulations to the owner and the team.

Human Friendly Dog Cafe and Hotel. Food and drinks were great. If you like Dogs and the atmosphere of many furry friends munching with their owners then this place is for you. They have a diverse menu and a pet store and boarding/services for dogs. I recommend for a furry foodie experience.

A really great dog-friendly spot! It’s refreshing to see a tasteful and culinarily special approach to a dog-friendly space, we need more places like this in and around the city! You can buy treats for your pet and order items for pets off the menu along with your meal. The service was good but we had a couple of mistakes (ordered a veg burger but got a different veg dish instead and got charged for an item twice) - but staff was quick to rectify when we pointed the mistakes out. Still giving this place 5 starts though because it was so enjoyable to have a nice meal with our dog!

What a gem!Restaurant - Standard size tables with hoops to attach your pup and plenty of parking in front which is much appreciated, especially in the winter! Lovely staff and clean facilities.Food - selection is limited but creative, beautifully plated, and an explosion of flavors at every bite. The pup menu has great variety, our pup tried the turkey meatloaf, which disappeared in 30.5 seconds! We took the poached eggs and chorizo grilled cheese with french toast sticks to share. Everything was perfect with creative pairings/sauces , i.e. creamy jalapenos sauce to the chorizo grilled cheese, just try it!!Drinks - we tried the classic latte and the butterfly pea flower latte, which was a delicious discovery! The foam was so dense, rich, and creamy and the indigo colored latte was perfectly sweetened and creamy.Pups - all tables had brought their fur babies that day and the dogs were so well-behaved. The hoop also allows to keep them close to your table. The staff had brought water bowl to each pup client.Price - I disagree that the price is too high.. any reputable brunch establishments of the same quality is price the same if not higher, and pets are most definitely not welcome. Each plate is around $18-$20 and latte $3-7. We had leftovers to bring home as well. I would try their special items and it's def worth your money!!Surroundings - We took a walk along the canal after brunch and the day was just perfect. Please support this local business; the experience they offer, in both culinary skills and pet-friendliness, they really deserve it!
