Harmony Grove Homes - Truro

Having sold our home on May 21, 2020 in the midst of a COVID lockdown, and with a closing of July 30, we had less than two months to make something happen.We contacted Ray at Harmony Grove Homes regarding the purchase of a new Mini Home and one of their building lots in Sunrise Court. Ray had a Seascape available at his Antigonish location, so after many weeks of hardly venturing out of our own driveway, we drove the 2 hours to Antigonish to look at the home.That afternoon we met with Ray at his Truro location and signed the purchase contract for the Seascape and lot.Within days, Harmony Grove’s excavation contractor was installing our culvert, driveway, sewer line and house pad. And shortly after the well was drilled in preparation for delivery of the house.The Seascape, all 16’ x 75’ of it, arrived and was positioned on the pad June 22nd, and in short-order all sub trades completed their specific work. After receiving the thumbs-up from the County Building Inspector, we took possession from Harmony Grove on July 22nd, giving us ample time to move in prior to our July 30th closing.It has now been 15 months since moving in, and every day we wake up with smiles on our faces and say it was the best decision we ever made, and that comes from the experience of having built four new homes and renovated two older ones.Were there issues? Of course…just like a new car, once you start driving it things arise. We contacted Harmony Grove when the need arose, who in turn contacted KENT Homes, and KENT’s authorized service contractors did their best to look after things in a timely manner, their hands sometimes being tied with COVID related work restrictions, material availability, etc.In our opinion both Harmony Grove, with over 15 years experience selling KENT Homes, and KENT Homes themselves, with over 60 years as a Manufactured Home builder, continue to go the extra mile in these uncertain times; a true sign that they both believe in the quality of their product, and their unwavering commitment to stand behind it.

Viewed some mini homes on lot over a week ago and narrowed it down to two. Sales rep was to email me later that day with info so I could finalize my decision. Still have not heard from them. Bought from another local dealer.

A journey into the future of homes ever see a home being built inside a factory?

I would never buy another home from this outfit. The owner has been unresponsive and based on my experience appears to be more interested in the sale vs following up with customer concerns.

Recently toured the $250k unit. Beautiful but for the cracks in the ceiling, mistakes in installation of cabinets, misplaced light fixtures, huge messes left in all the closets (in a model unit?). If they treat their model like this, how will they treat the home we want to build?

Make sure you ask for Ray. He'll do his best to make it roll in the right direction!!

Unresponsive, built up the pefectly good existing pad to the point where my lot does not drain rainwater properly anymore, left a tandem load of large stone in the yard without cleaning it up after moving the unit in, no follow-up. I have done my best to turn everyone i've talked to away from these folks. Disclaimer: this is Arilea's husband, Joel T. Hennigar, writing this.

Not recommended at all. Amateurs in the new home market.Went to visit their largest modular home 3 times. Never could get a detailed quote with our specific and simple options. Also the base price varied $60k depending with who we spoke. We were told that the final cost would be set at signing of the contract (??!!) . Yeah...I bet they drop huge additional costs at that critical moment. Anyways, at close to $600k....you can find a larger house, turn key for way cheaper. We did.

Bought a mini home here in 2015. They installed a heat pump that is so small it could barely function as a room heater or air conditioning unit, counter top cracked about 4 feet. Said they would be back for a year end review about any issues back then, havent heard from them since. I would not recommend dealing with these people or their products what so ever. Stay away.
