Barton Stone Mount Hope United Church

A beautiful old Georgian style church building built in 1844. Much of the original glass in the windows remains. Still in use today it is a very welcoming place.

I have always loved this beautiful stone church right from the time that I was a baby. It is one of the oldest churches of Canada. I never thought that I would be blessed enough to see inside of her. Then my niece Ashley announced that she was going to get married there. I was really excited because finally I was going to get to see her. She was even more beautiful inside than I had imagined with her solid wooden pews and her wide wooden alter. There were two aisles from the front to the back of the church. When Ashley the bride came down the aisle we were all moved to tears by her amazing beauty. The church was filled with a very warm golden light. It was one of the most beautiful weddings that I had ever seen. The Minister obviously loved a great sermon and knew how to give it to us. The vows were said and the license was signed and everything had gone off perfectly. We all proceeded out of the church to get our pictures taken. Ken and Ashley were finally Husband and Wife. Outside for pictures we were led to the front of this magnificent church were we all stood proud and happy to have our family pictures taken. Thank you so very much Lord Jesus for this Church and I pray that you would continue to Bless Her and Her servants for standing faithful to do your work in helping to perform this marriage and in helping to sanctify and consecrate it unto you Lord Jesus. I continue to pray that you would Bless it and keep it in Jesus Name. Amen.
