Michael was just great to deal with. He quoted the same day that I called and the ductless air conditioner I needed was installed within days by installers that were exceptionally experienced, friendly and clean. If I could rate Mckinnon higher than 5 stars, I would! For some weird reason, my entry for Mckinnon on Homestars won't register and there are no reviews for them on that site. Don't let that stop you from calling Michael - you need to at least include them on your list of options!

I had a clunky old AC unit (20+ years old) and was overdue for a new energy efficient Air Conditioner. Thanks to Michael and his staff at Mckinnon, we are thrilled with our new AC and just in time too with the warmer days. The installation was done last Friday and Mathew and Ahmad were great - friendly, professional and the kind of people you don't mind coming into your home.

“The fish rots from the head down” and Mackinnon’s hugely disappointing approach to customers and customer service starts and ends with its president Michael N. In our case, he behaved in an extremely rude, abrupt, almost vindictive manner and with no explanation, refused service to us in a time of need. Thirty-one days after an extended visit by Mackinnon to service our tankless water heater we were once again without hot water. A very thoughtful technician came out and assessed the situation and told us more work and parts were needed. He himself suggested the owner speak to us about the charge for the visit given the proximity to our previous visit and the upcoming work required. Michael called days later taking a very aggressive, rude, condescending tone. Without explanation and when asked refusing to explain he said he wanted nothing to do with us. Terrible experience.

I've spent over $1,300.00 with this company over the last few months and have had 5 different technicians look at and apparently repair my air conditioner. In fact, 4 of the 5 technicians were here over the last 2 weeks. After all that money and all that time, aggravation and discomfort, the A/C still doesn't work properly. Now I have to call another company to hopefully do what McKinnon couldn't do. As for the owner...no comment.

I first reached out to McKinnon through email on a Sunday. I was amazed how, within the next hour, after exchanging several messages we had scheduled a personal visit for two days later. Michael was fast, efficient, honest about what I would need to pay, and how long it would take. He also promptly supplied references of real customers who painted a realistic picture of his services. And when the day came, his men were respectful and carried out the job in the time scheduled leaving no mess. Follow-up was fantastic.Contrast this experience with the quotes I received from others. From one company who promised to visit but didn't even have the courtesy to call to say they couldn't make it, to another company that gave me a bureaucratic runaround just to get a quote, asking me technical questions about my house that I could not answer. McKinnon was direct, prompt, professional and courteous. 5 stars!

I purchased 2 Napoleon ductless air conditioners for my triplex, 5 years on, I had the opportunity of seeing the copper connections/pipes of the system. They literally have melted exposing the connections. Calling Mckinnon, Their answer, We can come and have a look. $50 + $125 per hour" "Surely this is an installation problem

We had our heating and ventilation system replaced by Mike and his team and they were an absolute pleasure to work with every step of the way. Pricing was fair, they clearly explained all the options we had available, and most importantly they treated our home with care. We live in a townhouse with some tight spaces, making it a challenge to complete a big job like this, but they managed to get it done without a single scratch in the wall. We look forward to having them back again for the annual service!

Our Central Air system failed on a sunday afternoon leading into one of the hottest weeks of the summer (of course). I placed a call with McKinnon on sunday evening and they said they would call me first thing Monday morning, they called at 7:45am to say that a technician would be by before 9am. The technician arrived right at 9am, and was very professional, his name was Abdullah. He informed me that my 11 year old Central Air system needed some extensive repairs, which while possible would still leave me with an obsolete system with a gas that was becoming expensive (R22). He recommended a new R410 system replacement. Michael the owner called and emailed with a quote for a new system that could be installed that day. They arrived at 1:30pm and were done by 3:30pm, and the new system has been working great. Am very pleased with the service, will be calling back for all of my HVAC needs in the future.

I called them for an emergency situation where there was not heat and hot water. The technician came and advised to replace a sensor. Later when they came to replace the sensor. But on the spot, they refused to replace the sensor but instead gave us a quote to replace the whole hot water tank and said that the valve above the tank is leaking and the hot water tank is leaking. I had a plumber replacing the valve and proved that the hot water tank was not leaking and demanded them to come to fix the sensor. The owner (claimed to be) said that they are not interested in fixing the sensor, asked me to find some other vendors to fix it. I don't recommend this contractor. I felt they are playing games. Also people should ask for their TSSA# before any service calls and make sure all of their quotes are taking into TSSA safety standards. I should have checked the Yelp reviews before calling this folk.

Called to book an appointment, didn't get that far before they were very rude and then hung up on me, thanks for wasting my time Laurie.... Firstly I never yell at people, secondly I did say that your price of $180 to come and give and estimate as to the work needed and then to discuss when it could be attained was high. There was no service to be done at the time of quote. Some companies I have noticed do put the clients first ...
