I really like the park that is out front of the Hospital (except for the idolatry). They have a bird box in the park that has Tree Swallows nesting in it each year! Great experience!

I had a really good experience here. This was my first time coming to emergency at St.Martha's and I was worried because of the reviews. When I first came in the attendant at the door jumped up and offered to get me a wheelchair as I was having troubles walking. When I got to emergency the triage nurse was amazing, easy to talk to, listened to me and was very helpful and nice. It was a bit of a wait, but that is understandable as there were a few others in the waiting room. When I got into a room (I waited roughly 2 hours) Dr.Mark saw me quickly. He listened to my issues and had an awesome bedside manner! I was concerned but he made my painful situation fun, which put me at ease and made me feel better. He was very helpful, didn't mind answering all my questions, he gave me advice and explained everything. I want to thank everyone there for helping me, making me feel comfortable and being so kind.

It’s not perfect, but it’s the best hospital around. Everyone tries their best. I find the doctors are great, kind and incredibly knowledgeable. Been many times, will be many more I’m sure.

Yes , I did have to wait a long time, but, the people who went before me were in more urgent need than myself. I'm 54 and this is the first time I have used the emergency room, so I feel quite lucky. the nurse was great and got me an x-ray within 15 minutes. when I finally saw the doctor he had a great bedside manner, he was very pleasant and i felt confident in his diagnosis. Great job.

Worst hospital I’ve ever experienced, I waited 8 hours for the doctor to be in a hurry to leave. He cut me off multiple times and spoke to me like I was inferior and stupid. They made no effort to try and acknowledge my concerns. I had an IV cord in my arm for about 4 hours after my IV was done and had to track someone down to remove it before I left. Biggest waste of time.

You wait for hours when there’s barley anyone in the waiting room. They are so unbelievably slow it’s like there’s only one doctor available and they’re busy chatting with their colleagues.

I had to call an ambulance for my 92 year old mother from a long term care home 45 minutes away from the hospital. She was very sick with what seemed like pneumonia. This process started around 5:00 p.m.When she was ex-rayed and cleaned, the doctor examined her and told me she had pneumonia. She prescribed antibiotics and told me that they will send her back that same night!?I challenged her on that point and with her defiant answer, told me they could do for her at the senior's home what they could do for her at the hospital. She seemed quite devoid of emotion or empathy. As it turned out, she couldn't find an ambulance and my mother ended up staying the night. The clincher is, apparently she has diagnosed her condition incorrectly!? My mother's regular doctor was away but has since diagnosed her her with something completely different. Still lung related but not pneumonia?!For sure this can happen but was her attention and heart in her care? It wasn't that busy. I would think that sending a 92 year old woman who is very sick, unable to communicate clearly, would be someone you would want to monitor for the night. Forget about the angst and emotion this caused for my family but making the decision to transport her for that distance, in her condition, was very difficult. Why is this happening? Emergency departments in small communities have to close on weekends because of staff shortages. There are people out there who can't afford the ambulance costs. The nurses were fantastic. I would say, this doctor needs to rexamine why she is a doctor.

My cousin has an open fracture on her finger. The blood was filling up under her nail and because the hospital took so long to see her, the blood spread around her finger and stretched the skin and it filled up with blood. Now the hole they drilled to drain the blood clogged back up and her finger is refilling with blood. Don't waste your time coming here

Awful. My son is a student at StFX university in Antigonish, a city of approximately 5000 people. He went to the hospital to get a test for strep throat and had to wait 7 hours. It’s a swab that takes less than 30 seconds to do. It’s disgusting and disgraceful and shows how broken our healthcare system truly is.I understand triage and that life threatening cases take priority but that’s not the issue here. The issue is too few doctors, too few nurses and a very poorly run medical facility.
