After years of wanting to take advantage of this work space, I enrolled in Newmakeit's woodworking 201 course with instructor Chris Tucker. (My review is pertaining to the course and wood shop space only, as I did not make use of the metal work or pottery spaces)The course was well organized: the first class was an intro session to ensure familiarity with the shop equipment as well as establish guidelines for the individual projects and provide generic plans to choose from as starting-points, each with a shopping list.We were given suggestions of where to purchase our lumber and flexibility in order to control our project pricepoint. I really liked that we were given flexibility to adapt or change the designs to suit our needs: ultimately I wanted to invest the time and money into a project that would find a place in my home and so I was supported and encouraged in modifying my design plans. With the intro class and purchasing done, we were able to hit the ground running on day 2 of the course.I would encourage anyone taking a course here to budget time to make use of the complimentary drop-in membership during the course time frame. I did come into the shop on 3 occasions outside of class to keep on track with my progress. We had quite a few (12) participants in our course and this meant the occasional time waiting to use specific equipment but I also found once our projects got underway, students naturally fell into our own stages of progress and this meant we didn't really have too much waiting around for equipment. Chris was also particularly good at offering alternative approaches / equipment to use to accomplish a task, or even consifering the various approaches to the work flow of a project. I also did not find the class size was a problem for Chris when it came to providing individualized support to students...he was always making rounds and checking in with participants throughout sessions. The administrative staff at Newmakeit are also supportive and available and provided friendly service. I found between the staff and other hobbyists in the shop, there was always support to turn to whenever I dropped-in to work outside of class time. With the course under my belt and a comfort and familiarity with the workshop, I would comfortably take on a part-time membership here and make use of the space and equipment for the next project I take on in my personal time.Highly recommend getting familiar with this space and its staff and opportunities!

Amazing, Took an intro to MIG welding class. Pandora was an amazing instructor and really gave a good indepth (as much as possible in the time given) on the basics of welding. The space is well layed out and overall very impressed. Will be looking for more courses in the future and maybe even get a membership later.

Went to the CNC instructional workshop. It’s over two days. I wish I had saved my money. I think NewMakeIt is a great place, but the instructor was grossly unprofessional (said it’s nice when it’s just guys in a class and he can relax and drop f-bombs at will. That’s pretty presumptive), and not respectful of people’s time. The course was to be two nights, over 9pm. He kept stopping to tell stories even after another gent said “can we get back on track here?” This class went more than 20 minutes overtime. Then he starts trying to get everyone to come for a third night of instruction to make up for his bad planning. Grown adults execute presentations professionally, without cursing throughout, within time constraints, because that’s being respectful of other adults. He also described a serious CNC mistake someone made and said “I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus”, but then totally did and dropped a name and this c is my introduction to the place?!?I do think this place is amazing for the community. But I really wish I had saved my money.

I highly recommend NewMakeIt. I took 3 pottery wheel throwing classes here and I am now a pottery member. The staff and other members are incredibly friendly and supportive. There is a great sense of community.

This place is fantastic. There is something for everyone! Glass Art, Welding, 3D Printing, Laser Etching and Cutting, woodworking and the nicest group of people you could meet. Definitely worth dropping in. Loved the atmosphere, the Co Founder was even in and had been working on his own project! It's very friendly and super helpful here. Come and visit and spend some time in a class! Don't hesitate, this is a gem near Main st.

My friends and I enjoyed a 2 day forging class with John Walker at New Make It. An incredibly fun experience for the four of us who have no previous experience blacksmithing. John was incredibly knowledgeable and thorough as he walked us through each step of the forging process. Thanks to John and New Make It for such a fun weekend. We will certainly be looking to take other classes at New Make It and highly recommend John and his knife forging class for those looking to try something new.

I came here to do some laser etching. The people are very friendly and helpful (both people working there, and members). Fizz trained me on the CNC and was fantastic. We did a 1-on-1 training and he took the time to make sure I was comfortable working with the equipment and software. I've been back once since, but plan on getting a membership. The cost is very reasonable, I highly recommend it.
