Drewsar Portuguese Water Dogs & Drewsar Lagotto Romagnolos

We got our first Portuguese Water Dog 14 years ago from Mari and Sara. Even at 14 years old Sara was so knowledgeable on the breed, grooming and showing. Along with her mother Mari they continue to raise beautiful, happy and well adjusted puppies. They are only a call, text or email away for any advice we ever need. We are thrilled to be able to bring our dogs back to Sara for grooming even though it’s quite the drive for us. They have become more than just a breeder of our dogs but life long friends. It is so beautiful to see Sara’s son Austin at only 4 years old, the third generation, so involved in helping raise and love the dogs! Mari and Sara have entrusted us with their up and coming boy Miller, we can’t wait to see him in the show ring and what his future will bring.

From the first moment we met Sara, she was extremely communicative, helpful and knowledgable. She made sure that we were the right fit for her pups and she also made sure Oliver (PWD) was the right fit for us! Oliver is the sweetest boy, who is friendly, smart, quirky, playful and loving. He has an amazing temperament and a lot of it has to do with the early on exposure that Sara does with the puppies from the moment they're born. From kitchen noises to playing directly with her own toddler and out in the lawn, Oliver came home to us practically house trained! We got our Lagotto Romagnolo almost 5 years ago from Mari and Sara. They are wonderful people who truly love their dogs and what they do. Finding a reputable breeder is so important and Mari and Sara are not only there when you take home your puppy…they are there every step of the way! We received a nice puppy package when we went to pick up Hudson with lots of detailed information from vaccinations to training. Whenever I need advice or have a question both Mari and Sara were readily available. I have gone back several times to visit Mari and Sara and they love seeing Hudson again. Our family has grown since getting our fur baby and it’s amazing to watch the special bond are children have with Hudson. I would highly recommend Mari and Sara when looking to get a puppy.

Today we celebrate 1 month since Koda (Citra's white boy) came home with us. He is an absolute joy! From our very first visit in your home, we have been amazed at the attention and effort you give to your dogs and their families. If I could give Sara and Mari 10 stars I would! This is my second PWD from Drewsar and I picked her up a month ago. The whole process was very smooth with Sara taking so much time and consideration to make a great match. Sara and Mari make every effort to expose their puppies to as many new experiences as possible so they arrive home friendly, confident and ready to take on the world! And it doesn't end at pick-up. We got our beautiful 3 year old boy Remington from Drewsar Portuguese Water Dogs during Covid years. Right from the beginning Sara and Mari were always available for questions about this energetic but loving and challenging breed. They are amazing. We still go back regularily for grooming with Sara who is wonderful with our dog. Drewsar is a fantastic breeder. Mari and Sara care so deeply about all their dogs and puppies. We got our Sofie, a Lagotto, from them two years ago and clearly it was the best decision to pick this breeder. By the time Sofie was ready to join us, we had a manual, lifetime time assistance, and a Drewsar Family. She has a great temperament which is a sign of good, selective breeding. I highly recommend them!

We got our Portuguese Water Dog, Digby, from Drewsar in June 2022. From the very start we knew we made the right decision to choose Drewsar as our breeder. Sara and Mari immediately sent us a package with information about the breed, a list of things we would need, training tips, treat recipes, and even included a guide for “kids and pups”, knowing that we have young kids at home.We were kept informed of the pregnancy, ultrasounds, birth, immunizations, vet check-ups, weekly pictures, and had a puppy visit in the 8 weeks leading up to bringing Digby home. It was clear that Sara and Mari wanted to get to know the families and their lifestyle to find the perfect puppy match.Since bringing Digby home, our relationship with Drewsar has continued. They are always ready and willing to answer any questions we have, they’ve hosted large gatherings of Drewsar dogs of all ages, as well as smaller gatherings with recent puppies where Digby was able to run around with his littermates. They care about their puppies, where they are, and how they’re doing, always encouraging families to share photos and updates. We are also lucky to have Sara as Digby’s groomer which we (and he) absolutely love.Aside from all the wonderfulness that is Mari and Sara, we also have an amazing dog! Sara shared with us some of the ways she prepares the puppies for the outside world, including exposing them to different sounds and noises, introducing them to different textures and environments etc. It is clear that Digby had an amazing start to life that has allowed him to become the great dog that he is. He is healthy, has the best temperament, is great with our kids, is incredibly smart, and has been relatively easy to train.Receiving a puppy from Mari and Sara has never felt like a transaction, it feels more like we’ve joined the Drewsar Family.

We are so thrilled with all that Drewsar does for both the puppies and the new owners. We have just picked up our second Portie puppy from Drewsar and couldn’t be happier. The pre-pick up training that Drewsar does for the puppies is so helpful in addition to the very comprehensive binder that is sent home with new parents. Sara is always available for questions and they seem to really care for both the happiness and the health of their puppies. Highly highly recommend!

This has been our first experience with a breeder, and it has been exceptional. Not only did they provide us with a calm, curious and joyful puppy, but when we've had any questions Sara has been quick to respond with appropriate, thoughtful information.
