Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - South Common
To start with the ambience, it was good.It was my first time at this restaurant and I was NOT at all HAPPY !!!!The staff was more towards on a wierd end. Rather than helping, they all were passing stares. Our server, was polite and very helpful.For the food, the mushrooms on my pizza was burnt !! Like when you take a bite you could feel that bitter taste on your tongue. So I removed the toppings and kept eating.When asked, I told my server and she being nice, offered to cook another pizza but I dint wanted that. The chef also came outside and apologized for the food.The chicken pizza was good but the quantity for pasta was too less for that price !All in all not a very good experience and am not sure I would be going back.

We were craving Famoso so stopped in at South Common to grab a late lunch. We managed to catch happy hour from 2pm-5pm.We ordered the 12 inch all meat pizza, happy hour meatball pasta and the Pizzatta Meal - cheese pepperoni pizza and it came with tomato bisque soup and San Pellegrino drink.Everything was delicious and full of flavor! Our server was friendly and funny! Large portions!!A definite go back to try other items on the menu!The restaurant was spacious and beautiful!

I used to come here very often up until the pandemic, and in that time, something definitely changed with this place.I’ve ordered Famoso through Skip (from this location) twice in the last few months and was disappointed both times. I thought maybe the pizza would be better in person, so I finally made my way to the restaurant tonight.The pizza we ordered was completely inedible — comparable to 3AM gas station pizza. Not even close to what Famoso used to be.On top of that, the restaurant was completely dead (there were only 4 of us and the restaurant was empty for most of our 2 hour meal), and the waiter told us half way through that he was leaving the restaurant for a few minutes but he would be back (???). Such a weird vibe and experience.When the time finally came for our bills, they were completely mixed up and had to be fixed, but were still wrong in the end. I am so disappointed with the service we received, and honestly sick to my stomach because of the two slices of $17 pizza I ate. Such a weird experience. It was like people who never ran a restaurant before were given the keys to Famoso for one night.Sad that I won’t be returning to my longtime favourite restaurant.

Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - South Common
We had dinner at the south common location. We ordered salad, appetizers and a pizza. The food was great, came to the table in a timely manner and was hot on arrival. Everything was great. Our dessert slightly missed the mark and Parish the chef recreated an excellent replacement making our experience a 10 tonight. The service was great and the care to clients was above expectations.

Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - South Common
Our boys love the kids’ meal which comes with a mini pizza, drink and gelato. My Capricciosa pizza (Italian ham, roasted mushrooms, artichoke hearts & kalamata olives) was pretty good.Sadly, this location seems to be understaffed and the current staff seem burned out. It’s a tough slog working in the restaurant business, I feel for them.

Server was excellent,Pizza as always was really good although we pretty much had to cut it ourselves. Beer selection could use some work. We do like knowing what we are about to get food wise and Famoso delivers on that.

Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - South Common
Recently had dinner at the South Edmonton location. My fellow diner & I were well attended to - no problem there. Very few other diners on a Wed afternoon at 4pm. Lots of free time for staff to wipe down tables, menus and generally spruce up the dining areas - which they were not doing and definitely need to! (The plasticized menus were tatty & filthy) We both ordered Mediterranean bread, and cheese & pepperoni pizzas. The bread was great and up to our expectations of previous orders. The pizza however, had a very peculiar looking appearance (shiny, flat and lacking in the gooey “threading” one expects from mozzarella cheese), and did not taste/smell like mozzarella cheese. Maybe it was vegan “cheese”? Some other type of cheese? We didn’t inquire … the diner can’t really impact the choice after the fact. But, such a negative experience will impact our future dining choices (ie. restaurant choice!). Sorry to be so negative - just a warning for other diners that neither the food nor the cleanliness are what they used to be.

Famoso Neapolitan Pizzeria - South Common
Margherita pizza is my favorite from their menu. Today I got to try their Tomatoe Bisque and Bruchetta as well. Bisque was rich and flavorful. Bruschetta bread was soft anf moist with what apppeared to be a balsamic vinegrette tomatoe and onion toppings. If you want to try Tiramisu pair with their regular coffee and it is combination you will not regret. Highly recommended.

Food was fine but took incredibly long to arrive, especially considering there was barely any customers in the place. The excuse we were given was we make everything fresh"
