I think a lot of the reviews sell this place short? If you’re the kind of person that only eats chicken nuggets and fries, then you probably won’t like this place… The healthier you are willing to eat, the better the food will be! Station hours are clearly designed to limit the availability of unhealthy options and encourage healthy and well rounded eating. Specials are rotated pretty well, and there are always fun new things to try. As someone with ASD, there are also lots of different sensory options available too, so I’ve never felt stuck trying to eat on weird sensory days either ✨Far better than previous options on campus, and much better than what you’d expect for “dining hall” food!

Mid food but great protein and carbs. Perfect for anyone trying to stay healthy. Everyone complaining is so privileged, they need to be humbled. A Singaporean prison could not even compare. I say we be thankful for this astonishing blessing!

This place is an utter disgrace. Considering the price everyone pays to get the meal plan, the food is overall not very good quality at all. There are days where there is quite literally nothing to eat because all the food offered is so unappetizing. Everything is repetitive, the rice occasionally tastes like dish soap and the lack of garbages makes life unnecessarily tedious. Also, the prices for people who don't have meal plans are ridiculous considering the food isn't even worth it, and they could get more out of their money if they just went to Earl's.

Literally the only one restaurant opens in a university that has thousands student and staff. Also I have to pay 5000 dollars to eat foods that I can not even choose, everyday foods be like a mystery box. I thought Canadians were nice…

Inexperienced staff. Food was awful. Strange taste and poor presentation. Some things at our table were overcooked and some under. Be were only 8 people and it wasn't busy yet some people at our table got served right away while others got their food 30 minutes later. There are far better options close to this place. Avoid at all costs.

Terrible food. From chicken being undercooked to rice being over cooked. Every day at the dining hall is worse than the next. I’ve had to order out multiple times this year and I am even on the dining plan where I get unlimited food. Food is unclean and sometimes rotten. Workers do not use gloves or mask when handling/serving food. Workers do not use utensils to serve food and make the environment not student friendly. The best option at the dining hall is the tea and coffee station as it is self serve and has simplicity. On the other hand, whatever food is made at Pritchard has either no taste, is watery, over/undercooked and I always seem to find a hair or something in my food. Very unclean and very unprofessional for a university dining hall.

Food? More like energy source, they are just edible enough to eat. Update: they are removing photos of their bad food and replacing it with some fake photos. They are doing it for students next year so they can get it. DO NOT GET THIS it's hell.

normally im not the type to complain about food, nor to be the one to write in depth reviews like this, but the fact that i have to eat here for a whole 8 months of my life for $5000 kinda forces me to.like everyone is saying, the food is dreadful. either watery, underseasoned, undercooked, overcooked, or straight up just unsafe. what i mean is occasionally, the grilled chicken is pink and the sanitation is just not up to par. sure, they have a few options but sometimes everything there just looks so unappetizing to the point that theres literally nothing to eat.i'd say breakfast is the only meal of the day that I don't absolutely hate. the scrambled eggs and hashbrowns are questionable but you can get fried eggs to order as well as bacon and sausage, and those aren't bad in my opinion. my only complaint is that for the fried eggs they often take too many orders at a time and forget about my order, which causes me to wait over 20 minutes for fried eggs, which wouldnt bother if me its a one off but if it happens almost every day then it gets really annoying. (thats my only complaint about service aswell, the staff are very kind). all in all, i can definitely handle eating breakfast here everyday.lunch and supper however, is a total trainwreck. some of the weirdest food combinations ive ever seen were created here. this is a uni dining hall, not an extravagant restaurant for people who want to try weird food combos. stay in your lane ubco. like i said in the beginning, 90% of the food served at lunch and supper is everything that gordon ramsay would describe in an episode of kitchen nightmares. its just not good. I will say SOMETIMES the soups are ok, mind you somedays they are extra watery, and I do like the yogurt bar and hot beverage bar.to sum everything up, this place is a disgrace. the worst part of all is how expensive it is and that you're forced into this depending on the residence you live in. $5000 for this is just disgusting. I'm a student, i'm already stressed, sometimes stress and anxiety causes nausea for me and i simply cannot stomach the food here if i am feeling that way. i've ordered so much delivery/takeout, as well as bought so much frozen meals and ramen, because those are better than eating here too. having to eat here for the past 5 months have been mentally exhausting. hate getting home from a bad day at school and seeing your parents cook up a food you dont like for supper? this is like that everyday, just a million times worse. shameful. do better ubco.

Higher authorities should intervenePritchard completely exploits students and their innocence. The meal plan is highly expensive and the fact that they run out of food by 8:30PM is insane when they claim to be open till 11:00PM. At times, they serve way less than one serving per person and if you ask for more, they say, “We’re only allowed to serve one plate per person”, but isn’t it supposed to be a buffet system? There are some elderly staffs who are extremely disrespectful to students when talking. We students pay way too much to be disrespected and manipulated by these staffs. At times, if you ask for more food, staffs say, “We can’t give you more than this because we’re running low on the food and we’ve to serve the rest of the students.” But my point is, I’ve paid for me individually and being “low on food” isn’t any of my concern. I’ve paid for my food and I’ll eat. Just because you’re running out of food, I’ll not accept me being served less. First off, I’m not getting any refund for the meal plan am I? Am I getting a refund as I’m getting not served enough? No. These issues are not mine to deal with. They try to embarrass students who ask for another plate so that they can save their own food. Complete use of manipulation. For a highly reputed university, higher authorities should intervene and fire some of the disrespectful staff members. The students don’t deserve this. We students should sign a petition and proper action should be taken against this. There are times when I go to eat at 9:30PM and see there’s no food and if I ask the staff, they say “you should’ve come earlier” What is this audacity? I’m a student. I’m busy. Pritchard is supposed to be open till 11:00PM. Why should this be a competition amongst student to get food? “If you come early, you get food” What nonsense is this? I hope there’s an investigation on this kind of nonsense and proper action is taken.

Food is an invaluable resource to humanity. We must intake nutrients to sustain ourselves. As a dining hall, Pritchard is a disaster. One must wait long lines for morsels of want-not repetitive food. The menu switches between meals of high sodium, to dishes blander than paper straws. As mentioned by others, the sodium levels are truly insane. The chow mein is often saltier than straight soy sauce, which is honestly quite incredible. I have found the whole grain bread to be the most enjoyable food, which depresses me.The drink bar contains fruit juices, tea, milk, lime & citrus water, coffee and other artificial drinks. Recently, there has also been freshly pressed apple juice. I do not have much to complain about, and instead am quite happy with the diversity of the drinks, as it caters to everyone. But, as an avid black coffee drinker, why does the dark roast taste like my father's medicine? So far I have had no issues with the service. Quite contrarily, the staff have been friendly and helpful. It is quite often fun to hear their conversations and menial bickering, as it livens up the atmosphere. Honestly, sitting at the tables near the food makes Pritchard feel like a tavern. One of the biggest issues that those that I've spoken to have noted is the sanitation. The bowls, cups, and plates sometimes have visible stains still left on them, and on one instance, the coffee cups were greasy. The cutlery is also most often than not covered in stains.Population density in the dining hall is often much too high. Seeing a line for pizza that you know will take twenty minutes to trog through, is genuinely painful yet common. The dining hall is quite simply not fit to serve the amount of people it currently does. Due to the long lines, some sections like nutrition become hard to access at times. Trying to get around the dining hall is honestly similar to playing Tetris. So far, the baked goods section and yogurt bar have been good. I often run over in the morning to pick up a muffin or other pastry for a quick breakfast. The potato chunks and scrambled eggs do not feel real at all. They genuinely feel and taste like prison rations. It is nice that you can request for over easy (or however) eggs though. Overall, breakfast is not bad, and can cater to people with different wants and needs.Lunch so far has been disappointing. It is always either a pizza and fries or nutrition angle. The tortilla they serve is bland and vile to my taste buds. The grillhouse truly is outstanding in their experimental" cuisine. (God please no more...) The nutrition bar sometimes tastes pretty good
