I worked for NW for 9 years. Within the last 4 I became and mother and a military spouse with my partner away on deployment alot. I requested to move areas closer to home to help with changes in my personal life and was told that within 7 months I would be transferred and I was 3rd on a list. 2.5 years later, after many calls and emails, I was still not transferred and told there would be no more transfers, even though they were hiring in the area of which I was requesting. The Union got involved and NW still would not help accommodate me. Although they said I was an employee with a perfect record. They told me I would have to quit and submit a resume to be re-hired on as a new employee in another area, and they would most likely rehire me due to being a good standing employee. I love my job but decided to put in my notice to help accommodate being a mother. The lack of support for working mothers with families is disappointing. This employer needs to reevaluate it's treatment towards good standing, dedicated employees.
