A beautiful example of an early pioneer cemetery. Elaborately carved stones situated above a scenic bend in 16 Mile Creek stand as a testament to the wealth created by local farming and milling operations in the 19th century. Crumbling stone ruins associated with said industries can be found nearby. As is a major highway which unfortunately detracts from the natural and historic charm.

Oakville/St. Mary's Pioneer Cemetery
Beautiful cemetery perched on a high bluff above a bend in 16 Mile Creek. It contains the graves of some of Oakville's oldest residents of European descent (thus thepioneer" title). It has the Chisholm family graves and many others. It is very close to the QEW so there is considerable vehicle noise. It seems strange to me that there isn't an interpretive sign or something to explain the significance of the cemetery
